Given under the hand of the Honourable Sir James
Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on
behalf of His Excellency the Governor and as his
duly-appointed Deputy, in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of August, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
eight.

Fixing Date for Election of Councillors, County of Raglan.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation made under "The
Counties Act, 1886" (hereinafter termed "the said
Act"), dated the twenty-ninth day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-seven, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette of the same date, the operation of the said
Act was revived in the County of Raglan, and it is expedient to
fix a date for the election of Councillors for the said county,
and for the vacating of their offices by the existing Councillors, as provided by section twenty-one of the said Act; and
also to state specifically what portion of the property, both
real and personal, and of uncollected rates, if any, belonging
to the various Road Boards in the county, shall vest in the
Council of the County of Raglan; and what portion of the
liabilities, if any, of the said Road Boards shall be discharged
by the said Council:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers vested in me by "The Counties Act, 1886," and
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
election of Councillors for the ridings of the County of Raglan
shall be held on the under-mentioned days, that is to say,β
For the Onewhero Riding: Thirteenth day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
For the Whangape Riding: Fourteenth day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
For the Pirongia Riding: Seventeenth day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
For the Te Akau Riding: Eighteenth day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
For the Karioi Riding: Nineteenth day of September, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
And, further, that the existing Councillors for the said
county shall vacate their offices on the twelfth day of
September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
And, with the like advice and consent, I do hereby state
that no property or rates belonging or payable to any Road
Board in the County of Raglan shall vest in the Council
of the said county, and that no liability of any of the said
Road Boards shall be a liability to be discharged by the said
Raglan County Council.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honour-
able Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this sixteenth day of August, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the Auckland City Council, being a leasing
authority within the meaning of "The Public
Bodies' Powers Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the said
Act"), has requested that these presents should issue, and
it appears expedient to make the order hereinafter con-
tained:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby order and declare that the Auckland City Council
shall, as from the date of the publication hereof in the
New Zealand Gazette, be subject to the provisions of the
said Act.
