ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth
day of August, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the New Plymouth Borough Council, being
a leasing authority within the meaning of "The
Public Bodies' Powers Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), has requested that these presents should issue,
and it appears expedient to make the order hereinafter con-
tained:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby order and declare that the New Plymouth Borough
Council shall, as from the date of the publication hereof in
the New Zealand Gazette, be subject to the provisions of
the said Act.

Vesting Reserves in the Borough of Hawkesbury.

WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Land Act,
1885," it is provided that the reserves to be made
for any borough or town district under such section shall
be made only in cases where no such reserves for the pur-
pose of sections three, five, and six of "The Plans of Towns
Regulation Act, 1875," exist therein, or, if existing, do not
equal or exceed the amount of reserves authorised to be made
under such last-mentioned Act:
And whereas the existing reserves for the Borough of
Hawkesbury do not equal the amount of reserves authorised
to be made under "The Plans of Towns Regulation Act,
1875," and it appears expedient to make the reserves herein-
after mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, in the name and on
behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the
seventeenth section of "The Land Act, 1885," and of all
other powers enabling him in this behalf, do hereby declare
that the land enumerated in the first column of the Sche-
dule hereto shall be and the same is hereby reserved for
the purpose stated opposite to the description of such land
in the second column hereto, for the benefit of the Borough
of Hawkesbury, as constituted under the provisions of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," on the eighteenth day of
September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

JAMES PRENDERGAST.
WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh
section of "The Land Act, 1885," it is enacted that
the Governor may from time to time, either by general or
particular description, and whether the same has been sur-
veyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding
that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief
Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-
appointed Deputy, in exercise and pursuance of the powers
and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby
temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts
of Auckland, Wellington, Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago,
described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the pur-
poses in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Land District of
Auckland, situate in the Mangawai Survey District, and
being Section No. 241 of the Parish of Mangawai, containing
by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less. Bounded on the
north by a line, 800 links; towards the east by a line, 1250
links; towards the south by a public road, 800 links; and
towards the west by a line, 1250 links: be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on Plan
No. 3889 (in blue), deposited in the Survey Office, Auckland.
For a school-site.
All that piece or parcel of land called or known as Sec-
tions Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 13, 14, 15, and 16 of Block XV., Town of
Te Aroha, situate in Block IX., Te Aroha Survey District,
Land District of Auckland, and containing by admeasure-
ment 2 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east
by a public road-line, 500 links; towards the south-east by
Sections Nos. 5 and 12 of Block XV. aforesaid, 400 links;
towards the south-west by a public road-line, 500 links; and
towards the north-west by a public road-line, 400 links: be
all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a gravel reserve.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Land District of
Auckland, containing by admeasurement 23 acres, more or
less, known as the north portion of Section No. 270, Parish
of Te Papa, Tauranga County. Bounded towards the north
by Section No. 159, Parish of Te Papa, 200 links; towards
the east by the Waimapu River; towards the south by the
south portion of Section No. 270, Parish of Te Papa afore-
said, 1600 links; and towards the west by a road, 1872 and
700 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For
acclimatisation purposes.
All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Land District
of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or
less, being Section No. 6A of Block XI., Takahue Survey
District. Bounded towards the north and east by Section
No. 6, 1000 and 194 links; towards the south-east by a road,
441 and 177 links; towards the south by Section No. 17,
635 links; and towards the west by Section No. 6 aforesaid,
605 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For
a site for a cemetery.
