Special Order made by the Hokianga County Council.—Redivision of Ridings.

THE following special order, made by the Hokianga County Council, is published in accordance with “The Counties Act, 1886.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT, in order to have the ratepayers represented in a more satisfactory manner than at present, it is desirable to form the county into a greater number of ridings than two. That on and after the 1st day of August, 1888, the county be divided into six ridings (as per Schedule at foot), the said ridings to be represented as follows: (1) Whangape Riding, one member; (2) Kohukohu Riding, two members; (3) Waihou Riding, one member; (4) Taheke Riding, one member; (5) Rawene Riding, two members; (6) Omapere Riding, two members: total, nine members.


SCHEDULE OF BOUNDARIES.

1. Whangape Riding (One Member).

Bounded towards the west by the sea, from Hokianga North Head to Hetekino River; thence by the county boundary to Raetea Trig. Station 43; thence by a straight line to the head of tide-water of Tapuwae Creek (the northernmost point); thence by the said creek to the Hokianga River, and by the Hokianga River to the starting-point at Hokianga North Head.

2. Kohukohu Riding (Two Members).

Bounded towards the west by the Whangape Riding, commencing at Raetea Trig. Station to the mouth of Tapuwae Creek; thence by the Hokianga and Mangamuka Rivers and Otukere Creek to where the same is intersected by the southern boundary of Omahuta No. 2 Block; thence by the western boundary of said block and the western boundary of Kauriputete Block to the county boundary; and thence by the county boundary to starting-point at Raetea Trig. Station.

3. Waihou Riding (One Member).

Bounded towards the west by the Kohukohu Riding to the Waihou River; thence by the Waihou River to the mouth of Utakura Creek; thence by the said creek to the county boundary, and by the county boundary to the starting-point at Kauriputete.

4. Taheke Riding (One Member).

Bounded towards the North by the Waihou Riding to the mouth of Utakura Creek; thence by the Waihou, Hokianga, and Waima Rivers, and by the Waima Creek to where intersected by the northern boundary of Te Aute Block, and eastward by the said boundary and the northern boundary of Manawakaiia Block and the northern boundary of Waimamaku No. 2 Block; thence by said boundary to the junction with Waoku No. 2 Block; thence in a straight line to Tutamoi Trig. Station 120; thence by the county boundary to starting-point at intersection of Utakura Creek by the county boundary.

5. Rawene Riding (Two Members).

Bounded towards the east by the Taheke Riding to the junction of Waima and Hokianga Rivers; thence by the Hokianga River to the mouth of Whirinaki Creek; thence by the said creek and the Whirinaki Stream to where intersected by the western boundary of Pukehuia; thence southward and eastward by the said stream to the southern boundary of Manawakaiia Block; thence to starting-point at junction of said boundary with the boundary of Taheke Riding.

6. Omapere Riding (Two Members).

Bounded towards the west by the sea, commencing at Hokianga South Head to Maunganui Bluff Trig. Station at county boundary; thence by the county boundary to Tutamoi Trig. Station; thence by the Taheke and Rawene Ridings, and by the Hokianga River to the starting-point at Hokianga South Head.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly passed in the manner prescribed by section 124 of “The Counties Act, 1886.”
