Date of Governor’s warrant, 12th June, 1879.

All those parcels of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 6 acres and 12 perches and 1 acre 2 roods 5 perches respectively, more or less, situate in the Turanganui Survey District, and being road-lines, 100 links wide and varying in width, traversing portions of the Matawhero No. 6 Block (No. 1704):—

Road containing 6 acres and 12 perches: Commencing at a point on the north-western side of the road which traverses the north-western portion of the Matawhero No. 1 Block opposite the termination of a road-line (containing 46 perches) which traverses that block, being the middle of the road above referred to; and thence continuing north-westerly for a distance of 2553 links or thereabouts; and thence north-easterly for a further distance of 3476 links or thereabouts to its junction with another road.

Road containing 1 acre 2 roods 5 perches: Commencing at a point on the south-western side of the road lying along the north-eastern boundary of the Matawhero No. 6 Block at a distance of 517 links or thereabouts from the eastern angle of that block, being the middle of the road last above referred to; and thence continuing south-westerly for a distance of 3067 links or thereabouts to a point on the south-eastern boundary of the Matawhero No. 6 Block aforesaid.

Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same are delineated on Map No. 4752, deposited in the Survey Office, Auckland.

All those parcels of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 4 acres and 17 perches, 4 acres 2 roods 12 perches, 3 acres 3 roods 2 perches, and 46 perches respectively, more or less, situate in the Turanganui Survey District, and being portions of road-lines, 100 links wide and varying in width, traversing the Matawhero No. 1 Block (No. 1702):—

Portion containing 4 acres and 17 perches: Commencing at the middle of the north-eastern termination of a road-line (containing 5 acres 2 roods 38 perches) which traverses the Matawhero No. 4 Block, being the middle of the road above referred to; and thence continuing north-easterly for a distance of 4350 links or thereabouts to the northernmost angle of the Matawhero No. 1 Block aforesaid.

Portion containing 4 acres 2 roods 12 perches: Commencing at a point on the southern side of the road above described at a distance of 2659 links or thereabouts from the western boundary of the above-named block, being the middle of the road last above referred to; and thence continuing south-easterly for a distance of 4680 links or thereabouts to its junction with another road.

Portion containing 3 acres 3 roods 2 perches: Commencing at a point on the eastern side of a road which traverses the Tauparapara Block at a distance of 844 links or thereabouts from its northernmost angle, being the middle of the road last hereinabove referred to; and thence continuing along the north-eastern boundary of the Tauparapara Block; and thence south-easterly for a total distance of 3830 links or thereabouts to its junction with another road.

Portion containing 46 perches: Commencing at a point on the northern side of the road first hereinbefore described at a distance of 2606 links or thereabouts from the western boundary of the Matawhero No. 1 Block, being the middle of the road last above referred to; and thence continuing north-westerly for a distance of 29 links or thereabouts to its junction with a road (containing 6 acres and 12 perches) which traverses the Matawhero No. 6 Block (No. 1704).

Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same are delineated on Map No. 4752, deposited in the Survey Office, Auckland.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 18 perches, more or less, situate in the Turanganui Survey District, and being portion of a road-line, varying in width, lying along and within the north-western boundary of the Matawhero No. 5 Block (No. 1703); commencing at the northernmost angle of the Matawhero No. 5 Block. Bounded towards the south-east by a line, 2314 links; towards the south-west by a line, 771 links; and towards the north-west by a line, 2327 links or thereabouts, to the commencing-point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on Map No. 4752, deposited in the Survey Office, Auckland.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Mining Act, 1886” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), I William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby withdraw from the Otago Mining District, as constituted by Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 18, of the twenty-third day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, that portion of the colony particularly described in the First Schedule hereto; and I do hereby proclaim and declare that, in lieu thereof, the portion of the colony particularly described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be included in the Otago Mining District, and that the boundaries of the said district shall be deemed to be altered accordingly; and I do hereby further proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect as from the second day of July next.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago bounded to the north generally by a line, parallel to and 10 chains distant from high-water mark, from the Bluff Harbour to Catlin’s River; towards the north-east by Catlin’s River; towards the south generally by the sea; and towards the west by the Bluff Harbour: but exclusive of the Town of Fortrose.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago bounded to the north generally by a line, parallel to and one mile distant from high-water mark, from the Bluff Harbour to Catlin’s River; towards the north-east by Catlin’s River; towards the south generally by the sea; and towards the west by the Bluff Harbour: but exclusive of the Town of Fortrose.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable, for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the branch line of railway from the main line of the Waitaki-Bluff Railway to Ngapara, with a sub-branch to Livingstone, to take further land on the Windsor section, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is taken for the purposes above mentioned.
