THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Pahiatua Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

Pahiatua, 17th December, 1887.
SIR,—I have the honour to hand you result of poll taken by the Pahiatua Road Board, on Friday, the 11th November, 1887, on the proposal to borrow £500 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of metalling the Tiraumea Road, about 80 chains, and forming and metalling Bridge Street, Kaitawa, 50 chains.
Number of voters interested 63, exercising 65 votes. Number of voters who voted 38, exercising 40 votes; of which number 39 were for the proposal and 1 against it.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following special order, made by the Whakatane Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
At an ordinary monthly meeting of the Whakatane District Board, held on the 7th day of December, 1887, it was unanimously resolved, in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” “That this Board do now levy a special rate of three farthings in the pound on all rateable property in the sub-district, Whakatane Road District (Crown and Native lands excepted), for the purpose of meeting interest and other charges on a loan of £2,000, to be obtained from Government under the provisions of ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886;’ and that the said rate be an annual-recurring rate until the loan is paid off, payable on the 1st of April in each year; the first payment to be payable on the 1st of April, 1888.”
Boundaries of the Subdistrict.
Bounded on the west by the Whakatane River from the sea to the confiscation boundary-line; on the south by the said confiscation boundary-line to the easternmost corner of Section 279; from thence bounded on the east by Section 310, Crown lands, and University Reserve, to the starting-point—the sea.
I certify that the above special order was duly passed by the Whakatane District Board, according to the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” on the 7th day of December, 1887.
