BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the one hundred and thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1885,” and of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the sections of land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be set apart for lease, with right of renewal, under the provisions of Part IV. of “The Land Act, 1885.”

Defining the Middle Line of a Further Portion of the Line of Railway from Greymouth to Hokitika: Section from Weld Street, Hokitika, to the Wharf.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the line of Railway from Greymouth to Hokitika is one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and which Act is, in the seventh section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorising the construction of such railway; and such railway is unfinished, and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same, viz., the section from Weld Street, Hokitika, to the wharf:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the aforesaid section seven of “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on the northern side of Weld Street, in the Town of Hokitika, and proceeding thence in a generally southerly and then in a generally westerly direction for a distance of 27 chains 40 links or thereabouts, passing through the following lands: Reserves Nos. 436, 392, 393, Weld Street and Gibson’s Quay, all in the Borough of Hokitika, and terminating at a point on Gibson’s Quay, upon the Hokitika Wharf, nearly opposite the production of the eastern side of Revell Street; in the manner delineated on the map and plan marked P.W.D. 15071, deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, at Hokitika, in the Provincial District of Westland; the total length being 27 chains 40 links or thereabouts.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable, for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the White Cliffs Branch of the Hurunui-Waitaki Railway, to take further land at White Cliffs Station, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is taken for the purposes above mentioned.
