that road to the road at the northern boundary of Section
No. 12, Block I., Winton Hundred; thence again towards
the North by that road to a point in line with the eastern
boundary-line of Section No. 1, Block VI., Winton Hundred;
thence again towards the West by a straight line to and
thence by that section and Sections Nos. 2 and 3 of the
said Block VI.; again towards the North by Sections Nos. 1,
2, 3, and 4, Block VI., East Winton; again towards the
West by the last-mentioned section to Eglinton Street in
the Township of Winton; thence again towards the North
by that street and the Great North Road to the south-
western boundary of Section No. 2, Block V., East Winton;
thence towards the South-west by the Great North Road
to a road forming the north-west boundary of Section No. 1,
Block V., East Winton; thence towards the North-west by
that road and its south side produced easterly across a rail-
way reserve to a point due south of the south-western corner
of a mill site in Block IV., East Winton; thence again
towards the West by a straight line to that corner; thence
again towards the South-west by railway reserve to Section
No. 5 of the said Block IV.; thence again towards the North,
West, and South by the said Section No. 5; and again
towards the South-west and North-west by railway reserve
to the road at the southern boundary of Section No. 29
aforesaid.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by “The River Boards Act, 1884,” I, Wil-
liam Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from
and after the date hereof, that part of the said colony de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is
hereby constituted a district under the said Act, and shall
be known by the name of the Benmore Limehills River Dis-
trict; and that the number of the members who are to con-
stitute the Board of the said district shall be five. And I do
also proclaim and declare that John Kynaston Lea, Esquire,
of Winton, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct the
first elections of five members of the aforesaid Board; that
Wednesday, the twenty-third day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-seven, shall be the day, and the
House of Robert Marris, at Benmore, shall be the place, for
holding such first election; and that Wednesday, the second
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven,
at two o'clock in the afternoon, shall be the time, and the
said house of Robert Marris shall be the place, at which the
first meeting of the members of the Board of the said river
district shall be held. And, lastly, I do proclaim and de-
clare that the aforesaid John Kynaston Lea shall be the
person to make a roll of electors for the purposes of the
aforesaid first elections, in the manner prescribed by section
eight of the said “River Boards Act, 1884.”
SCHEDULE.
BENMORE LIMEHILLS RIVER DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the County of Southland bounded towards
the North by a road from the north-west corner of Section
No. 252, Hokonui Survey District, to a point in line with the
western boundary of Allotment No. 12 of the Benmore
Estate; thence towards the West by a straight line to and
thence by a road forming the western boundaries of Allot-
ments Nos. 12 (aforesaid), 15, and 16 of the said estate;
again towards the North by Allotment No. 17 of the Ben-
more Estate aforesaid to the Winton Stream; thence
towards the North-east by that stream to a point in line
with the southern boundary of Allotment No. 40 of the said
estate; thence again towards the North by a straight line to
and thence by the last-mentioned allotment to its south-
eastern corner; thence towards the East and again towards
the North by Allotment No. 43 of the Benmore Estate afore-
said to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of that
allotment; thence towards the South-east by that road to
the south-eastern corner of Allotment No. 45 of the said
estate; thence again towards the East by a straight line
across the road, and thence by Allotment No. 48; again
towards the North and East by the said Allotment No. 48 and
Allotments Nos. 50 and 54 of the Benmore Estate aforesaid to
the south-western corner of the last-mentioned allotment;
thence again towards the South-east by a straight line to the
north-western corner of Section No. 342, Hokonui Survey
District; thence by that section and its western boundary-
line produced across a road; thence again towards the North
by that road to the eastern side of the road running through
Section No. 11, Block IX., Winton Hundred; thence again
towards the South-east by a line bearing 7° W. to the road
forming the southern boundary of Section No. 11 aforesaid;
thence towards the South by that road to Section No. 4, Block
IX., Winton Hundred; thence again towards the East by a
straight line across the road to the north-eastern corner of
Section No. 2, and thence by the eastern boundary-line of
the said Section No. 2 to its south-eastern corner; thence
again towards the South by the southern boundary-line of
that section to the Winton Stream; thence towards the
West by that stream to a point in line with the southern
boundary-line of Section No. 7, Block IX., Winton Hundred;
thence again towards the South by a straight line to and
thence by the southern boundary-line of the said Section
No. 7 to a road forming the western boundary of that sec-
tion; again towards the West by that road and a straight
line across it to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 3 of
20, Block V., Winton Hundred; thence again towards the
West by the said Section No. 3 of 20, and Sections
Nos. 2 of 20 and 1 of 20, Block V., Winton Hundred,
to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned sec-
tion; thence again towards the North by the northern
boundary-line of the last-mentioned section produced across
a road to the western boundary of Section No. 42, Block IX.,
Winton Hundred; thence again towards the West by that
road to the south-western corner of Section No. 3 of Block
IX. aforesaid; thence again by a road to the road at the
southern boundary of Section No. 743, Limestone Reserve,
Hokonui Survey District; thence again towards the North
and towards the South-west by the road fronting the said
Section No. 743; again towards the West by a road to the
road at the northern boundary of Section No. 723, Hokonui
Survey District; thence again towards the North by that
road to a point in line with the south-eastern corner of
Section No. 742, Hokonui Survey District; thence again
towards the West by a straight line to and thence by the
said Section No. 742 and Sections Nos. 738, 736, and 734;
again towards the North by Section No. 729; again towards
the West by the said Section No. 729 and Section No. 728,
Hokonui Survey District, and the eastern boundary-line of
the last-mentioned section produced across a road; thence
again towards the South by that road and its northern side
produced across the Invercargill and Kingston Railway to
Section No. 137A, Hokonui Survey District; thence again
towards the West by that section and the Village of Fern
Hill; again towards the North and South-west by the said
Village of Fern Hill to the northern corner of Section No. 2,
Block III., of that village; thence towards the North-west
and again towards the South-west by Section No. 87, Hoko-
nui Survey District, to the Great North Road; and thence
again towards the West by that road to the north-western
corner of Section No. 252, the place of commencement.
