alterations of the number of ridings within the county and
of the boundaries of some of them, hereafter particularly
specified, should be made, and that a special order em-
bodving the foregoing resolution should be made, and should
come into full force on the second Wednesday in the month
of November now next, but that such order should come
into force on the making thereof in so far and to such
extent as should be necessary for preparing any roll or
otherwise providing for the election of Councillors: And whereas such resolution was adopted at the said
special meeting, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting
held on the 9th day of April instant, of which resolution and
subsequent meeting, and of the time when the proposed
special order should take effect, public notice was given
once in each of the four weeks subsequent to the said
5th day of March last, and a notice of such subsequent
meeting was given to each Councillor:

Now it is ordered that—

(1.) The boundary-line between the Okakapu and Porewa
Ridings shall be altered by excluding from the Porewa
Riding Sections Nos. 23, 24, 29, 30, and 31 on the plan of
the Rangitoto Survey District, and including these sections
within the Okakapu Riding.

(2.) The boundary-line between the Wangaehu and Okakapu
Ridings shall be altered by excluding from the Wangaehu
Riding Sections Nos. 53 and 55 on the plan of the Rangitoto
Survey District, and including these sections within the
Okakapu Riding.

(3.) The boundary-line between the Porewa and Clifton
Ridings shall be altered by excluding from the Porewa
Riding Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 33, and 32 on the
plan of the Rangitoto Survey District, and including these
sections within the Clifton Riding.

(4.) The boundary-line between the Porewa and Makohau
Ridings shall be altered by excluding from the Makohau
Riding Sections Nos. 196, 197, 283, 284, 74, and 75 on the
plan of the Wangaehu Survey District, and including these
sections within the Porewa Riding.

(5.) The boundary-line between the Paraekaretu and
Porewa Ridings shall be altered by excluding from the
Paraekaretu Riding Section No. 76 on the plan of the
Wangaehu Survey District, and including this section within
the Porewa Riding.

(6.) The boundary - line between the Wangaehu and
Makohau Ridings shall be altered by excluding from the
Wangaehu Riding Sections Nos. 62, 63, and parts of Block
LIV., Wangaehu Survey District, now in the occupation of
one George Merritt and the executor of the late Robert
McAlley, deceased, and including these sections in the
Makohau Riding.

(7.) The Paraekaretu Riding, as altered by paragraph 5 of
this resolution, shall be subdivided :—

All that portion of the said riding lying towards the south-
west of the boundary-line of the Rangitikei Block, except
Section No. 76 on the plan of the Wangaehu Survey Dis-
trict, shall constitute and be a separate riding, under the
name of the Maungaraupi Riding.

All the other portion of the said riding shall henceforth
constitute and be known as the Paraekaretu Riding.
Bounded towards the South-west by the boundary-line of the
Rangitikei Block; towards the South-east by the Rangi-
tikei River to its junction with the Kawhatau River; thence
towards the South by the Kawhatau River; thence by the
eastern boundary-line of the Rangitikei County; towards
the North by the northern boundary-line of the Rangitikei
County; and towards the West by the western boundary-line
of the Rangitikei County.

I certify that all the forms of law in respect of the fore-
going special order have been duly complied with.

In the matter of “The Counties Act, 1886,” and in the
matter of alteration of the number, names, and boun-
daries of the riding in the Rangitikei County.

WHEREAS at a special meeting of the Rangitikei County
Council, held at the Council Chambers, Marton, on Satur-
day, the 5th day of March, 1887, to consider whether the
representation of the ridings of the Rangitikei County re-
quired readjustment, it was found that, taking into con-
sideration the number of Councillors elected for the existing
seven ridings, and in order to provide for the representation
of the new Riding of Maungaraupi, an alteration of the
number of Councillors elected by some of the ridings was
required, and a resolution was adopted to alter the number
of Councillors to be elected for the Porewa Riding, and that
henceforth the said Porewa Riding should elect one Councillor only, and that the Maungaraupi Riding should elect one
Councillor, and that a special order embodying the foregoing
resolution should be made, and should come into full force
on the second Wednesday in the month of November now
next, but that such order should come into force on the

making thereof in so far and to such extent as should be
necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing for
the election of Councillors: And whereas such resolution
was confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 9th day
of April instant, of which resolution and subsequent meeting,
and of the time when the proposed special order should take

THE following special orders, made by the Mangawhero
Road Board, are published in accordance with “The
Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT a special order be now made making a special rate of
five-twelfths of one penny in the pound over the Matatara
Subdivision of the Mangawhero Road District, as defined in
the Schedule hereto, in terms of section 24, “Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1886,” for the term of twenty-six years, to be
payable in one instalment on the 1st day of March in each
year, and that the first payment shall be due on the 1st day
of March, 1888, and that the above special order shall take
effect from the date of gazetting.

Schedule above referred to.

The Matatara Subdivision of the Mangawhero Road Board
commences at a point on the Upokongaro Stream at the
south-west boundary of the Matataranui Block; thence in a
south-east direction to the south-east corner of the said
Matataranui Block; thence following along the boundary to
the north-east corner of the said block; thence in an easterly
direction along the southern boundary of Sections 8, 9, 10, 11,
12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, Pikopiko, to the south-east boundary of
last-named Section 17; thence in a northerly direction to the
north-east corner of Section 14; thence in a straight line to
the north-west corner of Section 7; thence in a northerly
direction to the north-east boundary of the Mangaone Block;
thence following the northern boundary of the said Mangaone
Block to the north-west of the Matekalu Block; thence by
a straight line in a south-west direction to the starting-point
on the Upokongaro Stream: and to include the following
properties: Part of Makirikiri No. 1, 150 acres, Mataranui
Block, 600 acres, Sections 9, 10, 11, Pikopiko, 460 acres,
occupied by John Cullinane; Sections 12, 13, 14, Pikopiko,
735 acres, Section 8, Pikopiko, 143 acres, Mangaone Block,
929 acres, occupied by Walter H. Cox; Sections 15, 16, 17,
Pikopiko, 743 acres, occupied by M. Ryan.

I hereby certify, in terms of section 76, “Road Boards
Act, 1882,” that the foregoing is a true copy of the special
order made by the Mangawhero Road Board, and that the
same was duly passed by the Board on the 13th April, 1887.

of the Waipakura Reserve to the south-west corner of Section
342; thence by a straight line to the south-east corner of
Section 339; thence in a north-east direction to the south-
west corner of Section 330; thence by a straight line run-
ing in a south-easterly direction to the south-east corner of
Section 305; thence northerly to the south-west corner of
the Otaika Block; thence in a straight line running in an
easterly direction to the Mangawhero River; thence follow-
ing the Mangawhero River in a northerly direction to the
far northern corner of the Pohuehue Block; thence south-
