Appointing Trustees under Maori Real Estate Management Acts, 1867 and 1877.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of April, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Maori Real Estate Management Act, 1867” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), it is enacted that, if any title to or interest in any hereditaments shall accrue to any Maoris who or any of whom shall be infants, lunatics, or under legal disability, it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, if he think fit, to order that such hereditaments, or any part thereof or interest therein, as shall to the Governor in Council be shown to belong to such infant or lunatic or other person under legal disability shall be vested in Trustees, as the Governor in Council shall think fit:
And whereas by “The Maori Real Estate Management Act Amendment Act, 1877,” it is provided that, in all cases in which no Trustee of such estate of any infant Maori prior to the passing of the said last recited Act has been appointed, the Governor may appoint such Trustee only on the recommendation of a Judge of the Native Land Court:
And whereas, in pursuance of an order bearing date as contained in the first column of the Schedule hereto, made by the Judge named in the second column thereof, the persons named in the third column were recommended to the Governor as Trustees under the said Acts on behalf of the persons named and under the disability described in the fourth column, in respect of the real estate described or referred to in the fifth column:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the said Acts, doth hereby order that the interests and shares of the persons under disability named in the Schedule hereto in the block of land referred to therein shall be and remain vested in the several persons named in the third column thereof as Trustees within the meaning and for the purposes of the said Acts for the said persons respectively during the term or terms of their minority or other disability; the said parcel of land having the area and boundary set forth in the Crown grant, certificate of title, and memorial of ownership affecting the same, and in the record map in the office of the Surveyor-General.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue and in exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1886,” and of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be vested, for the purposes of a Home for the Aged Poor, in the Wellington Society for Relief of the Aged Needy, incorporated under “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885.”
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the City of Wellington, containing 4 acres, more or less, being part of the land mentioned in the First Schedule of “The Wellington City Reserves Act, 1872.” Bounded towards the North-east by the Wellington Lunatic Asylum land, 410, 130, and 105 links; towards the South-east by part of Owen Street, 65 links; again towards the North-east by Owen Street, 260 links: again towards the South-east by Section No. 770, 465 links; towards the South-west by a line bearing N. 12° 40' W., 871 links; and towards the North-west by a line bearing north 77° 20' east, 358 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated upon the plans in the District Survey Office, Wellington.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of February, 1887.

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Hurunui–Waitaki Railway, branch from Racecourse to Southbridge, with a sub-branch to Little River and thence to Akaroa (portion of sub-branch to Little River and thence to Akaroa), shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
