ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of April, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section two hundred and fifty-nine of
“The Counties Act, 1886” (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor in Council may
from time to time delegate to the Chairman of any County
Council for the time being, by his office, and not by name,
as he thinks fit, all the powers vested in him by sections
two hundred and fifty-seven and two hundred and fifty-
eight of the said Act, subject to the conditions therein
named: And whereas application has been made by the
Buller County Council to have the powers contained in the
said sections two hundred and fifty-seven and two hundred
and fifty-eight of the said Act relating to private bridges and
ferries delegated to the Chairman of the said county: And
whereas it appears expedient to make the delegation herein-
after mentioned :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred
in this behalf by the said Act, and acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth, by the present order, delegate to the Chairman
of the Buller County Council all the powers conferred upon
the Governor by sections two hundred and fifty-seven
and two hundred and fifty-eight of the said Act; to
hold and exercise such delegated powers subject in all
respects to the provisions of the said Act, and the conditions
imposed thereby.

Vesting certain Lands in the Wellington Harbour Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of April, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is provided by section three of “The
Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1886” (hereinafter
termed “the said Act”), and clause twenty-nine of the second
column of the First Schedule to that Act, that the Gover-
nor may, by Order in Council, declare that the lands
described in the said twenty-ninth clause shall vest in the
Wellington Harbour Board as endowments, subject to the
conditions therein stated:
And whereas, by one of such conditions, it is provided that
the lands so described and proposed to be vested in the said
Board shall not be so vested unless the said Board shall
accept the same as full compensation for the land that has
been resumed for the purposes of a printing office:
And whereas the said Board has agreed so to accept the
said lands as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and in pursuance of the powers
conferred upon him by the said Act, and of every other
power and authority enabling him in that behalf, and acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the
lands described in clause twenty-nine of the second column
of the First Schedule to “The Special Powers and Contracts
Act, 1886,” and which are set forth in the Schedule hereto,
shall, as from the date hereof, vest in the Wellington Har-
bour Board as endowments, subject to the provisions of “The
Harbours Act, 1873,” and on the condition that so much of
such lands as are below high-water mark shall be reclaimed
by the said Board and at its expense, under the provisions
of the said Act or any Act amending the same, and subject
to such reservations and rights as the Governor in Council
may at any time prescribe in relation thereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasure
ment 1 rood 12 perches, being the whole of Sections Nos. 2,
3, and 4, and part of Section No. 1, Block II., on the plan of
the Thorndon Reclaimed Land, Wellington. Bounded as
follows: North-westerly by Featherston Street, 237 links ;
North-easterly by Whitmore Street, 196 links ; South-
easterly by other portions of Section No. 1 aforesaid, 135
links ; South-westerly by Ballance Street, 168 links : be
all the above linkages and area either more or less ; as
the same are more particularly delineated upon the plan
marked P.W.D. 14118, deposited in the office of the Minister
for Public Works, at Wellington, and thereon coloured
red.
Also all that parcel of land being portion of the bed of the
Harbour of Port Nicholson lying to the eastward of Waterloo
Quay and contiguous thereto, commencing at a point, the
said point being the northern termination of the roadway of
Waterloo Quay, as vested in the Wellington Harbour Board
under “The Wellington Harbour Board and Corporation
Land Act, 1880;” thence bounded northerly by a line being
the prolongation of the northern boundary of Moss Street
for about 360ft. ; thence by a line parallel to face-line of
Waterloo Quay in one right line, distant 300ft. from the
average face-line of the breastwork to a point where a line
produced in a north-easterly direction, and at right angles
to the Railway Wharf, would intersect it if drawn from a
point where the eastern side of the reclamation empowered
under “The Wellington Harbour Board Loans Consolidation
and Empowering Act, 1884,” intersects the south-western
side of the aforesaid Railway Wharf : as the same is more
particularly delineated by a red line upon the plan marked
W.R., P.W.D. 14067, deposited in the office of the Minister
for Public Works, at Wellington.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of April, 1887.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public work authorized
to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the construc-
tion of works for the purposes of defence at Taiaroa Heads,
Otago: And whereas the said land is held or occupied by
Native owners:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers
vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the
amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the construction of
works for the purposes of defence at Taiaroa Heads, Otago,
shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of
land more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
