eighty-seven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, the Hurunui Rabbit District was constituted a district under “The Rabbit Nuisance Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1886,” with the boundaries described in the Schedule to the said Order in Council: And whereas it is expedient to amend the boundaries of the said district:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby amend the boundaries of the said rabbit district, and doth declare that the boundaries of the said district shall be those described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
HURUNUI RABBIT DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Provincial Districts of Canterbury and Nelson bounded towards the North-west by the Counties of Grey and Inangahua; towards the North-east by a line to the western shore of Lake Tennyson; thence by that lake and the River Clarence to the track over Jack’s Pass; thence by that track to the Hanmer Plains Main Road; thence by that road to the bridge at the Upper Waiau-ua River; thence by the Waiau-ua River to the ocean; thence towards the South-east by the ocean to the Waipara River; thence towards the South-west by the said Waipara River and its south branch to its source; thence by a straight line to Block Hill; thence by straight lines over Ashley Head, Seaward Head, and Esk Head to and along the summit of the watershed between the Rivers Hurunui and Poulter to the Southern Alps; and thence again towards the North-west by the County of Westland.

Extension of Time for gazetting Resolutions passed by the Borough Councils of Palmerston North, Rangiora, and Hampden, adopting “The Rating Act, 1882.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of April, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS under the provisions of “The Rating Act, 1882” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), the Councils of the Boroughs of Palmerston North, in the Provincial District of Wellington, Rangiora, in the Provincial District of Canterbury, and Hampden, in the Provincial District of Otago, did, prior to the first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, pass resolutions that they desired to adopt the said Act respectively, and such resolutions were in each case duly forwarded to the Property-tax Commissioner: And whereas by an oversight none of the said resolutions were gazetted by the said Commissioner on the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, and it appears expedient to extend the time for the gazetting of such resolutions in manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the period for gazetting the said recited resolutions shall be extended till the twenty-eighth day of April instant, and that the like proceedings shall be had and the like consequences shall issue, as nearly as may be, as if the said recited resolutions had been gazetted in manner provided by section fifty-eight of the said Act.

ADOPTION OF “RATING ACT, 1882,” BY THE BOROUGH OF PALMERSTON NORTH.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Borough Council of Palmerston North, on or about the 26th day of November, 1886, duly passed a resolution to the effect that it desires to adopt “The Rating Act, 1882;” and that such resolution is in the words and figures following, namely:—
“That the Borough Council adopt ‘The Rating Act, 1882.’”
Dated this 28th day of April, 1887.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of April, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the third day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to
The PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD,
which shall be known as the Rahotu Public Domain Board (herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the third Monday in each month, at half-past seven o’clock p.m., at the Road Board Office, Rahotu, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the sixteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the third Monday in December in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.
