by the Government under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” a special rate of ⁹⁄₇₅ths of a penny in the pound be now made and levied upon the properties contained and situate in the Gladstone-Wainuioru Road Special Rating District, as the same has been defined in a special order, confirmed by this Council on the 19th February, 1887, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 13, of the 3rd March, 1887, such special rate to be payable in two equal half-yearly instalments for twenty-six years, commencing in the present year, 1887, on the first Saturday in the months of January and July respectively of each such year, excepting the present year 1887, in which the said instalments shall be payable on the first Saturday in the months of May and July respectively; and that the Chairman of this county, and Councillors H. R. Bunny and Buchanan, be appointed to sign and seal the special rate-roll on behalf of this Council, and that the Treasurer of this county be appointed to collect the said special rate.

That, for the purpose of securing payment of the debentures or instalments upon a loan of £650, granted to this county by the Government under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” a special rate of ⁵⁶⁄₈₆₄ths of a penny in the pound be now made and levied upon the properties contained and situate in the Martinborough-Pahaua Road Special Rating District, as the same has been defined in a special order, confirmed by this Council on the 19th February, 1887, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 13, of the 3rd March, 1887, such special rate to be payable in two equal half-yearly instalments for twenty-six years, commencing with the present year 1887, on the first Saturday in the months of January and July respectively of each such year, excepting the present year 1887, in which the said instalments shall be payable on the first Saturday in the months of May and July respectively; and that the Chairman of this county, and Councillors H. THE following special order was passed by the Meanee Road Board on the 2nd instant:—

That, in consideration of the area of the Taradale Ward being considerably reduced by the formation of the the Taradale Town District, it is resolved that the Taradale Ward shall in future be represented by one member only.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT a special rate of three-eighths of a penny in the pound on all rateable property in the district (not including Government or Native lands) be leviable on the 1st April in each and every year, commencing the 1st April, 1887, to provide interest and sinking fund (if any) for the repayment of £500 proposed to be borrowed under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

I hereby certify that the above special order, making a special rate of three-eighths of a penny in the pound, was duly passed by the Whaingaroa Road Board, in conformity with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

Copy of RESOLUTION passed at a Special Meeting on the 24th November by the Taranaki County Council, and confirmed at a Meeting on the 2nd February, 1887.

RESOLVED, That this Council hereby adopts “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” generally, for the purpose of obtaining from time to time money by way of loan for the construction of public works and for other purposes in the terms of the said Act.

That a loan of £2,300 be applied for under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the following purposes:—

Making a concrete bridge over the Katikara River £500
Metalling the North, South, Mountain, and Junction Roads .. .. .. .. 600
Metalling from the Devon Line to the Mountain Road .. .. .. .. 1,200

That the Clifton County Council pass the following special order, viz.:—

That the Waihi Road Board be dissolved, and that the Waihi Road District be merged into the County of Clifton from the 1st of May, 1887; and that the said district be an outlying district of the county.
