Special Order made by Ashburton County Council.—Dividing Ashburton Riding.

THE following special order, made by the Council of the County of Ashburton, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

RESOLVED, Whereas it is expedient to divide the Ashburton Riding into two ridings, the County Council of the County of Ashburton, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf, doth hereby order that the Ashburton Riding of the county be, and the same is hereby, divided into two ridings, to be called respectively the Ashburton Riding and the Wakanui Riding.

The Ashburton Riding shall consist of the Longbeach Road District, the Coldstream Road District, and the Tinwald Town District.

The Wakanui Riding shall consist of the Wakanui Road District and the Hampstead Town District.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made, according to the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

THE following special order, made by the Manga-atua Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

RESOLUTIONS passed by the Manga-atua Road Board on the 11th November, 1886:—

  1. That, in the opinion of this Board, it is desirable that the Board borrow from the General Government the sum of £2,000, under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and that this Board forthwith apply for such loan accordingly.

  2. That, for the purpose of providing for the interest upon the said loan, it is desirable to levy a special annual recurring rate of one-halfpenny in the pound upon all rateable property in the Manga-atua Road District, during the whole period required by “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the continuance of the said loan; such rate to be computed from time to time upon the rateable value for the time being of the property rated, and to be payable yearly on every first day of July.

  3. That the particular works in respect of which the aforesaid loan is to be raised shall be new formation and new metalling works:—

(a.) Harris Road.
(b.) Holder’s Road.
(c.) Davey’s Road.
(d.) Broomfield Road.
(e.) Ormond’s Road.
(f.) Speedy’s Road.
(g.) Loveday’s Road.
(h.) Simpson’s Road.
(i.) Tanner’s Road.
(j.) Priest’s Road.
(k.) Bowman’s Road.
(l.) Troup’s Road.
(m.) Troup’s Extension Road.

  1. That the amounts respectively appropriated for the aforesaid works shall be as follow:—

(a.) For Harris Road .. .. .. £200

Application for Registration of Six Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of VEUVÉ POMMERY FILS AND COMPANY, of Reims, in France, Champagne Growers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks numbered from 1 to 6, of which the following is a description, viz.:—

Description of Trade Marks.

No. 1 consists of an oblong label bearing the words, name, and address “Pommery & Greno, Reims.”

No. 2 consists of a circular label having four ornamental projections. In the centre of the label is the representation of a German eagle, surrounded by a circular band bearing the name “Pommery & Greno” and the word “Sec;” said band being again surrounded by three concentric circles.

No. 3 also consists of a circular label having four ornamental projections. In the centre of the label are the words “Extra Sec,” surrounded by a circular band bearing the name and address “Pommery & Greno, Reims;” said band being again surrounded by three concentric circles.

No. 4 consists of a brand which is stamped or otherwise impressed upon the inferior part of the corks used in connection with bottles for containing champagne, and it consists of the name and address “Pommery & Greno, Reims;” the words “Pommery, Reims” being in the form of a circle, and the abbreviation and word “& Greno” being horizontally across the centre of the circle formed by such words.

No. 5 consists of a brand which is also stamped or otherwise impressed upon the inferior part of the corks used in connection with bottles for containing champagne, and it consists of the name and address “Pommery & Cº., Reims;” the words “Pommery, Reims” being in the form of a circle, and the abbreviations “& Cº.” being horizontally across the centre of the circle formed by such words.

No. 6 consists of the words “Veuve Pommery” stamped or otherwise impressed upon the side of corks used in connection with bottles for containing champagne.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of SOCIÉTÉ MENIER, of 56, Rue de Chateaudun, Paris, in France, Chocolate Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:—

Description of Trade Mark.

An oblong label, in the lower portion of which is an oblong frame, horizontally across the centre of which is the representation of four medals. Beneath the medals are the words “Chocolat-Menier.” In the upper portion of the label on the left are two oblong frames one above the other, each containing the words “Chocolat-Menier.” On the right of these frames is the signature “Menier,” enclosed by a circular band bearing the words “Usine Hydraulique de Noisiel.”

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
