Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Maungakawa-Waiorongomai Road, in the Waitoa Road District, shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

THE parcel of land mentioned hereunder:—

In the Provincial District of Auckland; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 14516, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh section of “The Land Act, 1885,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auckland, Taranaki, Canterbury, and Otago, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 acre more or less, and being called or known as Section No. 70, Parish of Tahawai, Katikati Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded on the North by Section No. 44, 200 links; on the East by the aforesaid Section No. 44, 500 links; on the South by a road-line, 200 links; and on the West by the aforesaid Section No. 44, 500 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a school-site.

TARANAKI.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 25 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the North-east by Section No. 91, 1515 links; towards the South-east by Devon Road, 60 links; towards the South-west by part of H, 1515 links; and towards the North-west by the Harbour Reserve A, 60 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a public highway.

CANTERBURY.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 9 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2708 (in red), situate in the Pareora Survey District. Bounded towards the North by the River Opihi; towards the West by Section No. 35330, 450 links; towards the East by Section No. 21015, 1242 links; and towards the South by Section No. 10728: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For river-conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 3 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2743 (in red), situate in the Kowai Survey District. Bounded towards the North by Porter’s Pass Road, 450 links; towards the West by the road-line forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 8469, 650 links; towards the East by Crown lands, 700 links; and towards the South by the River Kowai: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For a school-site.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2744 (in red), situate in the Waipara Survey District. Bounded towards the North by a road-line, 798 links; towards the East by a road-line, 1208 links; towards the West by Lot No. 25, subdivision of Reserve No. 198, 1325 links; and towards the South by a line bearing 90°, 798 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For a school-site.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 88 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2748 (in red), situate in the Kapunatiki Survey District. Bounded towards the North-east and East by the River Rangitata; towards the South-east by Section No. 34352; towards the North-west by Sections Nos. 26337, 23181, 23307, 23182, and 34352; and towards the South-west by Sections Nos. 23181, 23307, 23182, 25581, 34352, a road-line, and Section No. 34818: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For river-conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 27 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 2749 (in red), situate in the Kapunatiki Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by a line bearing 233° 56′, 384 links; towards the North-east by a road-line, 4916 links; towards the South-east by Section No. 25954, 850 links; and towards the South-west by the south branch of the Rangitata Creek: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For river-conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 91 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 2750 (in red), situate in the Kapunatiki Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by the road-line forming the north-west boundary of Section No. 3234; towards the North-east by the River Rangitata; towards the South-east and South-west by the south branch of the Rangitata Creek: save and excepting thereout Section No. 32324, which is included in the above-described section; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For river-conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 99 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2751 (in red), situate in the Kapunatiki Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by a line bearing 233° 57′, 2235 links, the same being the south-eastern boundary of Run No. 440, Class 3; towards the North-east generally by the River Rangitata; and towards the South-west by Section No. 23787, a road-line, and Section No. 26337: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For river-conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 178 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2746 (in red), situate in the Kapunatiki Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by Sections Nos. 34818 and 32085; towards the North-east by Sections Nos. 23153, 23160, 25643, 26010, and 32085; towards the South-west by the north branch of the Rangitata Creek, also by Section No. 32085; and towards the East by the River Rangitata: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For river-conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 12 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 2747 (in red), situate in the Kapunatiki Survey District. Bounded towards the North-east by Section No. 20668; towards the North-west and South-west by the north branch of the Rangitata Creek: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For river-conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, being Sections Nos. 1 to 8 inclusive, Block VII., in the Township of South Rangitata. For railway purposes.

OTAGO.

All those pieces or parcels of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 3 roods and 21 perches, more or less, situate in the Town of St. Bathan’s, and being Sections Nos. 24 and 46 of Block I. of the said town. Bounded towards the North-east by Main Street 65 links, also by a street-line 258 links; towards the South-east by Section No. 23 of the same block 150 links, also by Crown lands 314 links; towards the South-west by a street-line 66 links, also by Crown lands 200 links; and towards the North-west by Section No. 25 of the same block 139 links, by Section No. 5 of Block II., St. Bathan’s District, 353 links, also by Crown lands 32 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
