Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby direct that three-fourths of the cost of
maintaining the aforesaid portion of the Main North Road
from Annan’s Creek to the Borough of Palmerston shall be
borne by the County of Waikouaiti, and one-fourth of the
cost of maintaining the said road by the County of Wai-
hemo.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-second day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-seven.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh
section of “The Land Act, 1885,” it is enacted that
the Governor may from time to time, either by general or
particular description, and whether the same has been
surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstand-
ing that the same may be then held under pastoral license,
any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any
of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Land Districts of Auckland, Taranaki, Canterbury,
Otago, and Southland, described in the Schedule hereunder
written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND.

ALL that piece or parcel of land being called or known as
Section No. 194, Parish of Mahurangi, Mahurangi Survey Dis-
trict, Provincial District of Auckland, and containing by
admeasurement 10 acres, more or less. Bounded towards
the North-east generally by a public road-line, 100 links
wide, 261, 534, 940, 21, and 204 links; towards the South-
east by Section No. 177, Parish of Mahurangi aforesaid, 388
and 929 links; and towards the South-west by Section No.
118 of parish aforesaid, 1333 links, to the point of commence-
ment: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a
school-site.

All that piece or parcel of land being called or known as
Section No. 195, Parish of Mahurangi, Mahurangi Survey Dis-
trict, Provincial District of Auckland, and containing by
admeasurement 10 acres, more or less. Bounded towards
the North-west by Section No. 177, Parish of Mahurangi afore-
said, 691 links; towards the East generally by a public road-
line, 100 links wide, 1661 and 579 links; towards the South-
east by a public road-line of width aforesaid, 113 links; and
towards the South-west by Section No. 118 of parish afore-
said, 2118 links, to the point of commencement: be all the
aforesaid linkages more or less. For a cemetery.

TARANAKI.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or
less, being Section No. 32, Block IX., Kaupokonui Survey
District. Bounded towards the North by the Eltham Road,
800 links; towards the East by Section No. 28, 1250 links;
towards the South by Section No. 27, 800 links; and towards
the West by Section No. 27, 1250 links: be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less. For a school-site.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 253 acres, more
or less, being Section No. 11, Block XIV., Waitara Survey
District. Bounded towards the North by Section No. 10,
8407 links; towards the East by Section No. 1, Block XV.,
3185·5 links; towards the South by Section No. 12, 7553·3
links; and towards the West by the Mangaone Road, 4162·2
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For primary
education.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more
or less, being Section No. 13, Block XIV., Waitara Survey
District. Bounded towards the North by Section No. 7,
1350·1 links; towards the East by the Bristol Road, 1861
links; and towards the West by the Rimutautika Road, 1314
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a
school-site.

CANTERBURY.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 50 acres, more
or less, situate in the Fairlie Creek Township, Tengawai
Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by Sec-
tion No. 22124, 630 links; towards the North-east by the
River Opihi; towards the South-east by the stream forming
the northern boundary of Section No. 35258; and towards
the South-west by a line bearing 317° 11′, being in line with
the north-east side of Hamilton Street, 500 links; thence
again towards the North-west generally by the high terrace of
the River Opihi to Section No. 10, Block X., in the said town-
ship, also by the south-east boundary of said section and a
line in continuation thereof to the north-east side of Arthur
Street; thence again towards the South-west by Arthur
Street to its intersection by the before-mentioned terrace;
thence by said terrace to Block XII.; thence by that block,
a line in continuation of its north-eastern boundary, and
also by Block XI., to the said high terrace of the Opihi; and
thence following the same to Section No. 22124, the place of
commencement: and numbered 2745 (in red) on the plan
deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For
river conservation.

OTAGO.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Otago, containing by admeasurement 11 acres 3 roods 23
perches, more or less, situate in the Town of Kelso, and
being Sections Nos. 24, 25, and 26 of Block VII. of the said
town. Bounded towards the North-west by part of the
Pomahaka River Reserve, 1444 links; towards the North-
east by Sections Nos. 1 to 10 of the same block, 1711 links;
and towards the South by Teviot Street, 2826 links: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less. For an agricultural and
pastoral society’s show-ground.

SOUTHLAND.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Southland Land Dis-
trict, containing, exclusive of railway reserve, 10 acres 2 roods
36 perches, more or less, being Allotment No. 3 of Section
No. 43, Block II., Invercargill Hundred. Bounded towards
the North-west by Allotments Nos. 1 and 2 of said Section
No. 43, 1510 links; towards the North-east by Section No. 42
of said block, 780 links; towards the South-east by Section
No. 44 of said block, 1510 links; and towards the South-west
by a Government road-line, 780 links: save and excepting
from the above-described area a railway reserve, 1 chain
wide, intersecting same. For an addition to the Invercargill
Cemetery.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-second day of February, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

WHEREAS by “The New Zealand Institute Act, 1867,”
provision is made for the appointment of members
of a Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute, and
it is enacted that, on the first day of November, one thou-
sand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and on the first day of
November in each succeeding year, three members of the
said Board of Governors shall retire from office, but shall be
eligible for reappointment: And whereas the Honourable
George Marsden Waterhouse, the Venerable Archdeacon
Arthur Stock, and Thomas Mason, Esquire, three of the mem-
bers of the said Board of Governors, have retired from office,
and are eligible for reappointment under the provisions of
the said Act: And whereas by the said Act it is also pro-
vided that, on the annual retirement of the said three mem-
bers, the successors of such retiring members shall be
appointed by the Governor:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority in that behalf
vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint

THOMAS MASON, Esquire,

to be Governors of the institution called the New Zealand
Institute.
