and the trustees so elected shall hold office for one year, or until their successors are elected, if no further election take place within such year. The number of trustees to be so elected by each local authority shall be determined by the proportion which the amount that each local authority contributes to the maintenance of the separate institution bears to the whole amount contributed thereto by the local authorities.

  1. At least three days prior to the time appointed for the holding of any election of trustees by local authorities, the secretary for the time being of each separate institution shall give to each contributing local authority in the district notice in writing of the amount contributed to such institution during the last preceding financial year by voluntary contributors and by local authorities respectively.

  2. In cases under subsection (2) of section 36 of the Amendment Act, where “the remaining local authorities,” as defined by the said subsection, are to elect “the remaining trustees,” it shall be the duty of the secretary to each separate institution to notify in writing to each of the said remaining local authorities what number of trustees are to be elected by them, and to appoint the time and place for such election.

Revoking Appointment of Riverton and Mongonui as Warehousing Ports.

IN exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the Ports of Riverton and Mongonui shall, from the thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, cease to be warehousing ports or ports for the importation of tobacco.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-third day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.

Notification that Her Majesty has relinquished Negotiations for the Acquisition of the Horowhenua No. 10 Block.

IN pursuance of the provisions of “The Government Native Land Purchases Act, 1877,” and “The Government Native Land Purchases Act Amendment Act, 1878,” it is hereby notified that Her Majesty the Queen has relinquished negotiations in respect of the block of Native land in the North Island, situated in the District of Otaki, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and known by the name of Horowhenua No. 10, containing by admeasurement 800 acres, more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan of the Horowhenua Block, deposited in the Survey Office at Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fourth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.
