tion shall take effect on and after the twelfth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, and that it shall be read with and form part of the regulations now in force in respect of such telegrams.

SCHEDULE.

A TERMINAL rate of four shillings for the first ten words or less on every message, and fivepence for each additional word, shall be payable on all intercolonial telegrams received from Australia at the Eastern Extension Company’s office at Wakapuaka, for transmission or delivery in the Colony of New Zealand, in addition to the present land-line tariff rates between any station in New Zealand and the above-mentioned station.

Times and Places for Payment of Duties under “The Property-tax Act, 1886.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of October, 1886.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance of the power and authority vested in him under “The Property-tax Act, 1886,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and direct that the several duties leviable under the said Act shall be paid on the days and in the manner hereinafter particularly mentioned, that is to say,—

  1. In respect of the duty of thirteen-sixteenths of a penny, where the amount of such duty shall be under fifteen pounds, the same shall be paid on the fourteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six; and where such duty amounts to fifteen pounds, or exceeds that sum, the same shall be paid in two equal instalments, the first of such instalments being payable on the said fourteenth day of December, and the second of such instalments on the eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

  2. In respect of the duty on fire, marine, accident, fidelity, live-stock, plate-glass, or guarantee policies, issued by any insurance company, the same shall be paid on the tenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

And doth also direct that the places where the said tax shall be paid shall be any post office which is also a money order office, and at the office of the Property-tax Commissioner, at the Government Buildings, Wellington; and that notice to the foregoing effect shall be given by the said Commissioner accordingly.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Greymouth to Hokitika Railway shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

THE parcel of land mentioned hereunder:—

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Wellington-Napier Railway shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Inspector of Weights and Measures appointed, Greymouth and County of Grey.

Constable STEPHEN MAITLAND KELSO

to be an Inspector of Weights and Measures, under “The Weights and Measures Act, 1868,” and the Acts amending the same, for the Borough of Greymouth and County of Grey, vice Sergeant McArdle, resigned.
