8. The purchaser of any lands described in the Schedule,
upon the full payment of the purchase-money, and also the
fulfilment of the terms and conditions prescribed by "The
Land Act, 1885," relating to land on deferred payments, will
be entitled to his Crown grant, to be issued in the usual way
upon payment of the fees prescribed by law.

respecting the Introduction of Horses.—Notice No. 203.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this third day
of August, 1886.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL

N exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred on him
by "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1881" (hereinafter
termed "the said Act"), and of all other powers and
authorities in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His
Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby revoke so much as relates to
horses of the Orders in Council dated respectively the
twentieth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-three, the thirteenth day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four, and the third day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, made under the
provisions of "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1881," and also of
the several regulations made thereunder, and in lieu thereof
doth hereby make the general regulations set forth in the
Schedule hereto, and doth order and declare that the last-
mentioned regulations shall take effect from and after the
sixteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-six.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS.
In these regulations the following words shall have the
meanings hereby respectively assigned to them:—
"Inspector" means the Inspector or Deputy-Inspector
of the district appointed under "The Diseased
Cattle Act, 1881:"
"Board" means the local Cattle Board of the district:
"Horse" means any stallion, mare, gelding, or foal.
- No Inspector shall authorise any horse brought by sea
from any place beyond the Australasian Colonies to be
introduced into New Zealand unless such horse has been
examined immediately before shipment by a duly-qualified
veterinary surgeon, and certified by him to be free from
disease; such certificate to be produced to the Inspector,
but its production shall in no case preclude the Inspector
from making any other inspection he may deem necessary. - If the owner or his agent, or the person in charge of
any horse, fails, on arrival, to produce the said certificate to
the Inspector, such horse shall be immediately quarantined
in a separate enclosure approved by the Inspector, and
remain therein for a period of not less than thirty days, as
the Inspector shall in each case specially direct or require. - No Inspector shall authorise any horse brought by sea
from any place in any of the Australasian Colonies to be
introduced into New Zealand unless the certificate of a
duly-qualified veterinary surgeon or the Inspector or other
officer charged with the execution of the law relating to the
prevention of diseases among stock in the place whence the
same are brought, that the same has been examined and
found free from disease, be produced to the Inspector. - Every owner or consignee or person who shall land or
attempt to land, or assist or be in any way concerned in
landing or transshipping, or attempting to land or transship,
any horse from any vessel before a permit shall have been
had and obtained from an Inspector for that purpose; or who
shall refuse or neglect to remove any horse from any vessel
to a quarantine-ground on being directed by any Inspector so
to remove such horse; or who shall remove or attempt to
remove, or assist or be in any way concerned in removing,
any horse from a quarantine-ground, without a permit from
an Inspector authorising such removal first had and ob-
tained; or who shall refuse or neglect to remove any horse
from quarantine within twenty-four hours after an Inspector
shall have granted a permit for such removal; or who shall
refuse or neglect forthwith to obey any requisition, order, or
direction under these regulations or any of them; or who
shall obstruct or hinder any Inspector in the execution of
any of his duties or powers under these regulations, shall
forfeit and pay for every such offence a penalty of £50.
INSPECTION FEES, ETC.
- Under authority from the Colonial Secretary, or upon
authority in writing by the Chairman of the Board, the
Inspector shall employ a veterinary surgeon to inspect and
examine any horse known or reasonably suspected to have
disease, and shall require such veterinary surgeon to furnish
a certificate stating the condition of any such horse. - Such veterinary surgeon, with any assistants he may
require, is hereby authorised to enter upon any premises
for the purpose of such inspection and examination, as if he
were an Inspector appointed under the said Act; and any
person refusing to admit or obstructing such veterinary sur-
geon in such examination and inspection shall be liable to a
penalty of not less than £10 and not more than £100. - There shall be paid to the Inspector, on demand, by
the owner of any horse or horses, or his agent, or the person
in charge thereof, the following fees, in respect of the matters
hereinafter stated, namely:—
For inspection of one horse and not exceeding

surgeon when authorised as aforesaid, in ad-

RECOVERY OF FINES, PENALTIES, ETC.
- All fees, fines, penalties, and other sums made payable
under any of the foregoing regulations may be sued for and
recovered in the manner provided by section 51 of "The
Diseased Cattle Act, 1881."

Secretary shall be exercised by any person the Governor may
