the 21st February, 1885. Mrs. Boyd and infant had been
knocked overboard. Bevins and another got into a boat, and
when 60yds. away, owing to the boat leaking, jumped over-
board, and got a life-buoy, which he placed under Mrs.
Boyd’s arm, and supported her until rescued. Awarded a
certificate of merit.

THE following special order, made by the Council of
the County of Wanganui, is published in accordance
with the provisions of “The Counties Act 1876 Amendment
Act, 1882,” and “The Counties Act Amendment Act, 1885.”

SPECIAL RESOLUTION passed at the Special Meeting of the
Wanganui County Council, 16th June, 1886.

THAT the resolution passed at the special meeting of the
Council held on the 15th May, 1886, declaring the Wangaehu
Road Board dissolved, and the same merged into the county
on and after the 17th June, 1886, be confirmed.

Application for Registration of Two Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that ALEXANDER MACDOUGALL,
of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, Mer-
chant, has applied to register, under “The Trade Marks
Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a
description, viz. :—

Description of Trade Mark No. 1.

A label with the representation of a wreath, comprising an
oak-branch with acorns on one side, and a thistle in bloom
on the other, tied at the bottom with a ribbon. In the
centre is a shield containing a lion rampant, and surmounted
with an Imperial crown. The whole is printed in gold, red,
and black, on white paper.

Description of Trade Mark No. 2.

A label with five representations of the Queen’s Head, the
centre one being larger than the others. Under each of the
smaller Heads is the representation of a ribbon with the
words “India,” “Scotland,” “Ireland,” and “The Colonies”
respectively written thereon ; and under the larger or centre
Head is also the representation of a ribbon with the word
“England” written thereon. Underneath these Heads is a
special and distinctive word “Jubilee,” which may be used
in conjunction with any word descriptive of whisky, and all
other alcoholic and non-alcoholic liquors.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Marks shall apply.

Trade Mark No. 1: Wines, spirits, cordials, liqueurs, and
malt liquors.

Trade Mark No. 2.: Whisky, and all other alcoholic and
non-alcoholic liquors.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent
Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has
applied, on behalf of KINAHAN AND COMPANY, of 20,
Great Titchfield Street, London, in England, and also of
Carlisle Building, Dublin, in Ireland, Whisky Merchants,
to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade
marks numbered 1 and 2, of which the following is a de-
scription, viz. :—

Description of Trade Marks.

No. 1 consists of an oblong label, in the upper portion of
which is an oval floral wreath. Within the space enclosed
by such wreath is the device of a crown, and beneath the
same is the name and words “Kinahan’s Celebrated Old LL
Whisky.” Above the crown is the address “Carlisle Build-
ing, Dublin,” and beneath the word “Whisky” is the address
“20, Gt. Titchfield St., Oxford St., W.” On the upper por-
tion of the oval wreath are the words “Please to observe the
word ‘Kinahan’ is branded on the cork,” and on the lower
portion are the words “And that the seal & label corre-
spond.” In the lower portion of the label, within a rectangu-
lar border, are the following words: “Kinahan & Co.,
“finding that, through the recommendation of the Medical
“Profession, the demand for their Celebrated Old LL
“Whisky (The Cream of Irish Whiskies) for purely medicinal
“purposes is very great, submit for the satisfaction of the
“Public the following Extract of Analysis by Dr. A. H.
“Hassall:—‘I have very carefully examined, and fully
“‘analyzed this well-known and popular Whisky. . . .
“‘The several samples were soft and mellow to the taste,
“‘aromatic and ethereal to the smell. . . . The Whisky
“‘must be pronounced to be pure, well-matured, and of very
“‘excellent quality. The Medical Profession may, there-
“‘fore, feel full confidence in the purity and quality of this
“‘Whisky.’”

No. 2 consists of the letters “LL.”

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Marks shall apply.

No. 1, to whisky.

No. 2, to fermented liquors and spirits.

An oblong label, diagonally across which is the compound
word “Self-Washer.” Above the word “Self” is the word
“The.” In the left-hand upper corner of the label is the
word “Sunlight,” and in the lower right-hand corner is the
word “Tablet.” The whole being enclosed within a single-
line oblong border.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

Common soap and perfumed soap.

Aldersgate Street, London, in England, Ink Manufacturer,
to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade
mark of which the following is a description, viz. :—

Description of Trade Mark.

A narrow oblong label, divided into three compartments,
the central and largest of which contains the word “Com-
bined.” In the left-hand compartment is the signature
“Henry Charles Stephens,” the representation of a day-
book and a ledger, and the word “London;” and in the
right-hand compartment is the representation of a copying-
press, and a scroll bearing the words “For writing and Copy-
ing.” The whole being enclosed within a double plain-line
oblong border.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.
