applied, on behalf of BUSBRIDGE AND COMPANY, of East
Malling Mills, Kent, in England, Paper Manufacturers, to
register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade
mark of which the following is a description, viz.:—
Description of Trade Marks.
No. 1 consists of an oblong label, divided into two com-
partments, and beneath which is the word “Busbridge.” In
the upper portion of the larger of these two compartments
is the device of a horse rampant within an oval frame. On
either side of such oval frame is another oval frame; that
on the left enclosing the words “Mill Number,” and that
on the right the figures “315.” Immediately beneath
these oval frames is an oval scroll, within which is the word
“Paper.” Beneath the scroll and within an oval is the
word “Weight” at one end, and the indicator “lbs.” at the
other end. Beneath this oval is an oblong, and within same
on the left is the word “Number.” At each end of the oval
and oblong is scroll-work, and at the bottom of the compart-
ment within an oval scroll is the word “Kent.” In the
centre of the small compartment is an oval. At one end of
the compartment is the word “Malling” within an orna-
mental oblong frame, and at the other end of the compart-
ment is the word “Mills” within an ornamental oblong
frame.
No. 2 consists of the device of a vat bearing the word
“Vat.”
No. 3 consists of the device of a horse rampant within an
oval. Above the oval are the words “Original Malling Mills,
Kent,” and beneath the oval is a ribbon bearing the word
“Incomparable.”
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Marks shall apply.

Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has
applied, on behalf of JOSEPH PICKERING AND SONS, of Albyn
Works, Burton Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire, in England,
Polishing-paste Manufacturers, to register, under “The
Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the fol-
lowing is a description, viz.:—
Description of Trade Mark.
The device of a diamond, within which are the letters
“J.P.” conjoined.
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.
Polishing-paste, furniture-polish, harness-blacking, razor-
paste, plate-powder, knife-powder, and household prepara-
tions of a similar character.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent
Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has
applied, on behalf of FLOWER AND SONS, of Stratford-on-
Avon, in Warwickshire, England, Brewers, to register, under
“The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the
following is a description, viz.:—
Description of Trade Mark.
An oval label, upon which is a portrait of Shakespeare in
the act of writing. Beneath the portrait is a horizontal
tablet bearing the name “Stratford-on-Avon,” and beneath
the tablet is a space intended for the reception of the name
and address of the Bottler of or Agent for the goods in
respect of which the said trade mark is used. The whole is
enclosed within an oval band bearing the name and words
“Flower & Sons’ India Pale Ale.” The right is claimed to
use the said trade mark in any colour or combination of
colours, and the further right is claimed to vary the words
“India Pale Ale” upon the said trade mark, by substituting
therefor the name of either of the articles in respect of
which the said trade mark is sought to be registered.
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.
Beer and other fermented liquors and spirits.

Marine Board, Hobart, is published for general in-
formation.

SWAN ISLAND, BANKS STRAITS.
A SIGNAL and telegraph station has been established at Swan
Island, whence telegraphic messages can be transmitted to
their destination at current rates.
Ships passing the lighthouse will be regularly reported,
free of charge. Mariners are therefore invited to assist as
much as possible in making known the names of their ships,
so that the fullest information may be given.

Notice under “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act,
1883.”
WHEREAS the estate and interest of Arekatera te Ra,
Piripi te Rawarihi, and Hinewai, aboriginal natives
of New Zealand, in the land described in the Schedule
hereto, is vested in Teraite Tonihu, as Trustee under the
provisions of “The Maori Real Estate Management Act,
1867,” and the several amendments thereof, subject to
certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and ap-
plication has been made for the removal of such restric-
tions:
It is hereby notified that it is intended, immediately after
the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this
notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said
restrictions on the alienation of the said land in respect of
the interests aforesaid, in order that the said land may be
leased by the said Trustee for a term of twenty-one years
from the 1st January, 1882.
Dated at Wellington, this ninth day of July, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-six.

Rewards offered for the Discovery of New Goldfields.—
Amended Conditions.

REWARDS are offered for the discovery of new gold-
fields, upon the conditions set forth hereunder, payable
out of the parliamentary vote of £2,500.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

THE maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved
discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these condi-
tions is £500; but, if the total sum claimed as rewards in
any one year exceeds the parliamentary vote, the amount
available only will be divided equally. -
The newly-discovered goldfield, if in alluvial ground,
must be situated not less than ten miles from the nearest
alluvial gold-workings, or, if in quartz, not less than five miles
from the nearest existing quartz-mines. -
No grant will be paid upon any application until it
shall have been proved that not less than 20,000 ounces of
gold have been extracted from the new goldfield within two
years from the registration of the discovery, if in alluvial
workings, and, if in quartz-workings, proof of a similar yield
from this source within three years from such registration
will be required.
