the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby revoke the said in part recited Proclamation of the sixteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, so far as regards the Rotorua District, and the said recited Proclamation of the ninth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, and do hereby proclaim and declare that the several areas described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the same are, hereby proclaimed to be Native districts for the purposes of the said Act:

And, in further pursuance and exercise of the said power and authority, I do hereby appoint the Resident Magistrate whose name and office are set forth respectively opposite the description of each district in the Schedule hereto to be the Returning Officer or person to take steps for the election of a Native Committee in such district, in the manner prescribed by, and for the purposes of, the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

District. Names and Offices of Returning Officers.
ROTORUA. All that area in the Provincial Districts of Auckland and Wellington, bounded towards the North-west by the Waipa County (from a point on the boundary of the said county intersected by the production of a right line drawn from Uira Gorge through Maungatautari) to the Waikato River, thence by that river, the Piarere Stream, and the Hinuwerā Block No. 1 to the Mangawhero Stream, thence by that stream and the Waihou River to the Wairere Stream, thence by that stream and the Ngaiterangi Native Committee District hereinafter described; towards the North-east by the sea; towards the East generally by the Tarawera River, Putauaki Nos. 1 and 2 Blocks, and Matahina Nos. 1 and 2 to Mahia Whakaata, thence by a right line to the north-western corner of the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, thence by said provincial district to Te Iringa; thence towards the South-west by a right line to the summit of Ruapehu; thence towards the West generally by a right line to the source of the Waikato River, and by that river to Lake Taupo, thence by the west shore of that lake to the mouth of the Waihora River, thence by a right line to Uira Gorge, and thence by a right line over Maungatautari to the Waipa County. NGAITERANGI. All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland bounded towards the North-west by the County of Ohinemuri; towards the South-west by the County of Piako to the road from Tauranga to Cambridge, thence by a right line to Otanewainuku; towards the South-east by the confiscation boundary-line; and towards the North-east by the sea. Also the adjacent islands of Mayor and Motiti. Herbert William Brabant, Esq., Resident Magistrate.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Auckland, this twenty-seventh day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in me vested in this behalf by “The Resident Magistrates Act, 1867,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the fifteenth day of May instant, the jurisdiction of the Resident Magistrate’s Court for the Wairoa District, as the same is defined in a Proclamation bearing date the ninth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, shall be extended to one hundred pounds.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, the construction of harbour works, in the Borough of Greymouth:

And whereas the Greymouth Harbour Board has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purpose of constructing harbour works; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so mentioned shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in the Greymouth Harbour Board, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever.

In the Provincial District of Westland; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 13899, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
