Notice of Proposed Loan, Borough of Hamilton.

THE following notice, received from His Worship the
Mayor of Hamilton, is published in accordance with
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and the Acts
amending the same.

SIR,—I have the honour to send you notice that, by a poll
of the burgesses taken at the Borough Council Chambers,
Hamilton, yesterday, the 24th instant, a special loan was
authorized by the said burgesses, the voting recorded being
as under:—
Number of burgesses on roll, 240.
Number of votes for loan .. .. 177
Number of votes against loan .. .. 1
Informal voting-papers .. .. 1
Total voting-papers applied for .. 179
The number of votes in favour of the loan being 177, and
being more than half the number of burgesses on the roll, the
Returning Officer has declared the proposal to be carried.

Time and Place of First Meeting of Otago Dock Trust
appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in pursuance of the
provisions of section 52 of "The Harbours Act, 1878,"
appointed Monday, the 12th April instant, at 3.30 p.m., as
the time, and the Borough Council Chambers at Port
Chalmers as the place, for the first meeting of the Otago
Dock Trust.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the
Marine Board, Suva, Fiji, is published for general
information.

Fiji Islands.—Leading Marks, Rewa Bar, Viti Levu
Island.
NOTICE is hereby given that two leading marks, painted
white, have been erected at the Nukulau entrance of the
River Rewa. The marks in one, on a N.W. ½ N. bearing, will
indicate to vessels the direction of the deepest water over the
bar.
They are 763 yards apart, and triangular in shape: the one
on shore, resting on its base, has an elevation of 17 feet; the
other, in the river, stands inverted on a pile at an elevation
of 18 feet above high water.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges
in force on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with section 144 of "The Public Works
Act, 1882," I, Edward Richardson, the Minister for
Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations and
additions to the scale of charges, to come into force from and
after the 19th April, 1886:—
PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
WHANGAREI SECTION.
Ironstone, consigned from coal mines to railway wharf,
will be charged 2s. per ton, including delivery to ship.
AUCKLAND SECTION.
Goods of Classes A, B, C, D, between Auckland Station
and ports on the Kaipara, will be charged, at per ton weight,
as below, wharfage at Helensville included, ships to place
in and take delivery of goods from trucks at Helensville
Wharf:—

Supposed Arson.—£25 Reward.
Constabulary Office,
Wellington, 5th April, 1886.
WHEREAS on the night of the 19th or morning of the
20th January last a bridge, commonly called the
Black Bridge, over the Wairauhe Stream, in charge of the
Bay of Islands County Council, was destroyed by fire: And
whereas at an inquest held as to the origin of the said fire
the following verdict was returned: "That the said bridge at
Wairauhe was wilfully and maliciously set on fire and
burned by some person or persons unknown:"
Notice is hereby given that a reward of £25 will be paid by
the Government for such information as will lead to the
arrest and conviction of the offender or offenders.

Tenders for leasing Seal Fisheries.
General Crown Lands Office,
Wellington, 16th March, 1886.
NOTICE is hereby given that separate tenders will be
received at this office up to noon of the 3rd day of
May next for leases for the sole right of seal-fishing on the
portions of the foreshore and islands described in the Schedule
hereto, in accordance with the regulations issued under the
hand of His Excellency the Governor, dated the 9th day of
February last, in pursuance of the provisions of "The Land
Act, 1885," and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the
11th day of February, 1886.
Each tenderer must state the amount of rent which he is
prepared to pay for a period of twenty-one years, with a right
to a renewed lease for a like term subject to a new valuation,
in accordance with the regulations aforesaid.
Each tenderer must submit the names of two approved
sureties who are prepared to enter into a bond for the sum
of £500 each, in addition to a bond for a similar amount to
be entered into by the successful tenderer, that the provisions
of the lease will be duly fulfilled.
The highest or any tender shall not necessarily be ac-
cepted.
