Fixing Shooting Season for Imported Game, License Fee,
&c., Cook District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals
Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the same,
I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-
pheasants and Californian quail may be taken or killed
within the Cook District, consisting of the County of Cook,
from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-six, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-six, both inclusive (subject never-
theless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned).
And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such
game within the said district shall be issued on payment of
the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell
such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five
pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Gisborne is
hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do further
notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or
killed within the said district from the first day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, to the thirty-first
day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six,
both inclusive.

eight hundred and eighty-six, to the thirty-first day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, both inclusive
(subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts
mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take
or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on
payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that
licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the

Counties of Waimate, Mackenzie, and that part of the
Geraldine County lying south of the Opihi River, from the
first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
six, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-six, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the
restrictions in the said Acts mentioned), and that licenses to
kill such game within such district shall be issued, on pay-
ment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses
to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of
five pounds each; and that the Chief Postmaster at Timaru
is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do
further notify that native game (except tuis) may be taken
or killed within the said district from the first day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, to the thirty-
first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six,
both inclusive.

hundred and eighty-six, both inclusive (subject nevertheless
to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do
further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within
the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of
twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game
shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each;
and the Chief Postmaster at Oamaru is hereby appointed to
issue the said licenses. And I do further notify that native
game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said
district from the first day of April, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-six, to the thirtieth day of June, one

so much of the County of Southland as lies to the westward
of the Mataura River, together with the Counties of Fiord,
Wallace, and Stewart Island, from the first day of May, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, to the thirty-first
day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six,
both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the
said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses
to take or kill such game within the said district shall be
issued on payment of the sum of thirty shillings each, and
that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment
of the sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster
at Invercargill is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses.
And I do further notify that native game (excepting tuis)
may be taken or killed within the said district from the first
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, to
the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-six, both inclusive.
