section of the railway as and from the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, and that the rate leviable by “The District Railways Act, 1877,” “The District Railways Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1878,” and “The District Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1882,” may be levied over the whole of the said railway district (excepting such part thereof as has been omitted from classification as provided by the said Act), and shall be and be deemed to have been so leviable as and from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

THAT portion of the Duntroun and Hakateramea Railway known as the Waitaki section, extending from the Township of Duntroun to the Township of Kurow, both in the County of Waitaki, and thence across the Waitaki River to a station in Reserve 261, near the north bank of the said river, in the County of Waimate. Length, about sixteen miles.

INDORSEMENT.

WHEREAS by subsection seven of section two of “The District Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1883” (hereinafter called “the first-mentioned Act”), it is enacted that a certificate may be granted in respect to any part or section of a railway completed and opened for traffic prior to the passing of the said Act, and that in such case the Governor may declare that such guaranteed interest shall be payable and such rate leviable as provided in sections seven, eight, nine, and ten of “The District Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1882” (except as is before in the first-mentioned Act provided in respect of section seven), as from a period not earlier than the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, or from any subsequent day to be named in such certificate, and that such interest shall be paid and such rate leviable accordingly: And whereas the part or section described in the within certificate of the railway therein mentioned was completed and opened for traffic prior to the passing of the first-mentioned Act: And whereas the grant to the Duntroun and Hakateramea Railway Company (Limited) within named of the within certificate in respect to the said completed part or section of the said railway was duly authorized in terms of the first-mentioned Act:

Now I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the first-mentioned Act, do hereby declare that the within-mentioned guaranteed interest shall be payable, and the within-mentioned rate leviable, as provided in sections seven, eight, nine, and ten of “The District Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1882” (except as is provided as aforesaid by the first-mentioned Act in respect of section seven), as from the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

CERTIFICATE OF DEFICIENCY OF RATES.

I do hereby certify that it has been made to appear to me that there is a deficiency of rates in respect of the several classes of lands hereunder respectively mentioned to the amounts herein stated, and that such amounts require to be raised by the Duntroun and Hakateramea Railway Company (Limited) under the provisions of the various Acts relating to the construction of district railways, that is to say,—

Class of Land. Amount of Rates deficient for Period from 1st April, 1883, to 31st March, 1884, inclusive.
Class I.—Lands receiving or supposed to receive immediate and direct benefit from the construction of the railway Eleven hundred and seventy pounds eleven shillings and fivepence.
Class II.—Lands receiving or supposed to receive less direct benefit Thirteen hundred and ten pounds fourteen shillings and ninepence.
Class III.—Lands receiving only the benefit incidental to, or derived generally from, the construction of the railway Three hundred and thirty-seven pounds eight shillings and fourpence.

I therefore direct that such rates as are requisite to produce the sums above mentioned, amounting in all to two thousand eight hundred and eighteen pounds fourteen shillings and sixpence, shall be made, raised, levied, and collected by the company.

As witness my hand, at Wellington, this ninth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1884,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that portion of Ngatiawa Street, in the City of Nelson, hereinafter described, to be permanently closed, and the area thereof added to the adjoining Hospital and Lunatic Asylum Reserve G, namely: All that portion of Ngatiawa Street bounded on the North by Franklyn Street; on the East by Sections numbers one thousand and seven, one thousand and nine, one thousand and eleven, one thousand and thirteen, one thousand and fifteen, one thousand and seventeen, one thousand and nineteen, and one thousand and twenty-one; on the South by Motueka Street; and on the West by Sections numbers one thousand and six, one thousand and eight, one thousand and ten, one thousand and twelve, one thousand and fourteen, one thousand and sixteen, one thousand and eighteen, and one thousand and twenty, City of Nelson.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in Auckland.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1884,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby change the purpose from a reserve for primary education to a recreation-ground of all that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement two acres two roods fourteen perches, more or less, being Lots numbers thirty-six and thirty-seven of Section number two of the Parish of Takapuna, Rangitoto Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by Lot number thirty-nine, three hundred and five links and seven hundred and one links; towards the East by a road-line, four hundred and eighty-seven links; towards the South by a road-line, three hundred and seventy-seven links; towards the South-east by a road-line, three hundred and fifty-four links; and towards the South-west by a road-line, three hundred and fifty-one links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. To be dealt with under the provisions of “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” by the Domain Board constituted by Order in Council issued on the fourteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in Hawke’s Bay.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1884,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby change the purpose from a reserve for a cemetery to a recreation-ground of all that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, being a portion of a reserve containing sixteen acres one rood, situate at Ormondville, in the Seventy-Mile Bush, and containing by admeasurement four acres, more or less. Bounded towards the North-east by other portion of said reserve set apart as a site for a school; towards the North-west by a public road; towards the South-west by Section number one hundred and forty-two, three hundred and forty links; and towards the South-east by the Railway Reserve three hundred and ninety-six links, and by other
