A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is vested in certain aboriginal natives of New Zea-
land, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such
land, and application has been made for the removal of
such restrictions:

It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excel-
lency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty
days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and
in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the aliena-
tion of the said land.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Dunedin, this twenty-eighth day
of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece of land situated in the District of Wellington,
containing 2 acres 2 roods 10 perches, be the same a little
more or less, being that piece of Native land called or known
by the name of Orangikaupapa number 5, and numbered
3336, and being the whole of the land comprised in Crown
grant, Register-book, Volume xxi., folio 229. And also all
that piece of land situated in the County of the Hutt, con-
taining 3 acres and 7 perches, be the same a little more or
less, and being the lot numbered 10 on the plan of the
Orangikaupapa Native Reserve, and being the whole of the
land comprised in the certificate of title, Register-book,
Volume xxi., folio 234.

Goods and Ballast to be landed and shipped from Motueka
Wharf.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
fourth day of January, 1885.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE NATIVE MINISTER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection three of section two hundred
and fifteen of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” it is
enacted that every Harbour Board may, by by-law, regulate
the times, places, order, and mode of shipping, unshipping,
landing, warehousing, stowing, and depositing of goods, and
the taking in and delivery of ballast:

And whereas by the twelfth section of the said Act it is
enacted that in harbours where there is no Harbour Board
the Governor in Council shall have all the powers, functions,
duties, and authorities by that Act conferred upon Harbour
Boards, and may exercise the same in accordance with the
said Act:

And whereas there is no Harbour Board at Motueka, and
it is expedient to provide that all goods and ballast landed
and shipped at Motueka shall be landed and shipped as
hereinafter provided:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in pursuance and
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the
hereinbefore in part recited Act, doth order that, on and after
the sixteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-five, the following by-law shall be in force within
the Port of Motueka, namely:—

By-LAW.

All goods and ballast landed or shipped within the Port of
Motueka shall be landed on and shipped from the Motueka
Wharf.

Authorizing the Granting of Certificates to the Duntroon
and Hakateramea Railway Company (Limited).

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this first day of
August, 1884.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS that part or section described in the
Schedule hereto of the railway proposed to be
constructed by the Duntroon and Hakateramea Railway
Company (Limited), under the provisions of “The District
Railways Act, 1877,” and the Acts amending the same, was
completed and opened for traffic prior to the passing of
“The District Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1883:” And
whereas the said company applied to His Excellency the
Governor in Council for a certificate under subsection seven
of section two of the last-mentioned Act in respect of the
said completed part or section of the said railway: And
whereas Henry Wirgman Robinson, Esquire, and William
Moody, Esquire, were appointed Assessors under said section
two of the last-mentioned Act to revise the classification for
the purposes of section ten of “The District Railways Act,
1877,” of the lands comprised within the district constituted
for the purposes of the said railway: And whereas in pur-
suance of the recommendation in that behalf of the said
Assessors His Excellency the Governor, in exercise of the
powers in that behalf conferred on him by “The District
Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1883,” reclassified the lands
within the said railway district: And whereas it has been
made to appear to the satisfaction of His Excellency the
Governor in Council that the said part or section of the said
railway is now open for traffic, and is beneficial or of advan-
tage to the ratepayers and owners of property within the
said railway district, and that a majority in number of the
ratepayers and owners of property within the said railway
district, representing not less than one-half of the rateable
property within such railway district, consent to the issue
of such certificate as is hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by
“The District Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1883,” doth
hereby authorize the grant to the said company of a certifi-
cate, under the hand of the Minister for Public Works, to the
effect set forth in the First Schedule to the last-mentioned
Act in respect of the aforesaid completed part or section of
the said railway.

SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

ALL that part or section of the Duntroon and Hakateramea
Railway known as the Waitaki section, extending from the
Township of Duntroon to the Township of Kurow, both in
the County of Waitaki, and thence across the Waitaki River
to a station in Reserve 261, near the north bank of the said
river, in the County of Waimate. Length, about sixteen
miles.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETED RAILWAY.

I do hereby certify that it has been made to appear to the
satisfaction of the Governor in Council that the Duntroon
and Hakateramea Railway Company (Limited) completed
and opened for traffic prior to the passing of “The District
Railways Acts Amendment Act, 1883” (herein termed “the
said Act”), that part or section of the Duntroon and Hakate-
ramea Railway known as the Waitaki section of the said
railway, described in the Schedule at the foot hereof, and
that the same is open for traffic and is beneficial or of advan-
tage to the ratepayers and owners of property in the railway
district (except such part as has been omitted from classifi-
cation as provided in the said Act) constituted for the
purposes of the said railway: And whereas the cost of the
said Waitaki section of the Duntroon and Hakateramea
Railway (pro rata on the basis of original estimate for the
whole railway) has been ascertained to be sixty-two thousand
one hundred pounds: I do hereby certify that the said
company is entitled to the guaranteed interest mentioned in
section seven of “The District Railways Acts Amendment
Act, 1882,” upon the cost of the said completed part or
