Land taken for a Storm-water Channel in Borough of Ross, Provincial District of Westland.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, the construction of a storm-water channel in the Borough of Ross, Provincial District of Westland:

And whereas the Ross Borough Council has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a storm-water channel; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so described shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever, for use as a storm-water channel.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land containing 4 acres 1 rood 28 perches, more or less, situate in the Totara Survey District, commencing at a point on the south bank of Donnolly’s Creek at Bullock Point, and being distant 24½ chains, bearing 124° 45′ (magnetic), from trig. tube at Blair’s Corner, or south-east of Town Section No. 96; and from thence (Donnolly’s Creek) it runs in a south-west by west course, passing Shellback Gully, and goes in close proximity to foot of terrace and across Nos. 1 and 2, left-hand branch of Jones’s Creek, till it strikes Jones’s Creek at peg XI., and being distant 2410 links, bearing 195° 30′ (magnetic), from the south-east corner of Town Section No. 4. The length of the reserve on the north side is 4260 links or thereby, and on the south 4515 links or thereby, having a mean width of 100 links. The same being more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 12366, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

Certain Rivers, &c., notified under “The Timber-floating Act, 1884.”

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the second section of “The Timber-floating Act, 1884,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following rivers, streams, and tidal creeks within the colony may be used under license for the purposes of the said Act:—

  1. The Whangamaroro River and its branches or tributary streams known as the Kaimarama and Mahakirau Streams, and each of their branches and tributary streams; also the Te Weiti River or Creek, its branches and tributary streams: all situate at Mercury Bay, Coromandel County, in the Auckland Provincial District.

  2. The Waiwawa River, its branches or tributary streams known as Rangihau, Taranohe, and Oteao Streams, and each of their branches and tributary streams; also the Ounuora River or Creek, its branches and tributary streams: all situate at Mercury Bay, Thames and Coromandel Counties, in the Auckland Provincial District.

  3. The Kaipara River and its branches or tributaries the Waikoukou River and Te Kokopu Stream, with their respective branches or tributaries: all situate in the Kaipara District, in the Provincial District of Auckland.

  4. The Whenuakite River, its branch or tributary stream known as Parakau, and its branches or tributary streams.

Amalgamating Licensing Districts.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section three of “The Licensing Act Amendment Act, 1882,” I, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Licensing Districts of Milton East and Milton West shall be amalgamated under the name of the Milton Licensing District, as from the second day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five; and that, as from the said date, the said Licensing Districts of Milton East and Milton West shall be abolished.

Altering Boundaries of Rotorua Licensing District, and defining Omataroa Licensing District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Rotorua Licensing District, which shall henceforth be those described in the First Schedule hereto, and do also hereby proclaim and define the part of the colony mentioned and described in the Second Schedule hereto to be an ordinary licensing district for the purposes of the said Act.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

Rotorua.—Comprises all that area known as the Ridings of Rotorua and Maketu, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 63, 28th November, 1876; exclusive of the Thermal-Springs Special Licensing District.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Omataroa.—Comprises all that area known as the Riding of Omataroa, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 63, 28th November, 1876.
