A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is vested in a certain aboriginal native of New Zealand, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and application has been made for the partial removal of such restrictions:

It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, partially to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land, so as to admit of the leasing of the said land for nine years, from the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

All that piece of land situated in the District of Oeo, containing 1,792 acres 1 rood, more or less, and being Allotment No. 1 and part of Allotment No. 2 of Block II. and the whole of Allotment No. 4 of Block III. on the plan of the said district, and being the whole of the land comprised in a certain grant from the Crown dated the 4th day of February, 1881, and recorded in the Register-book at New Plymouth, Vol. vii., folio 66; excepting that portion of the said land comprised in the said grant, containing 21 acres 3 roods, more or less, delineated and coloured pink on the plan of the lands comprised in the said grant, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar, at New Plymouth.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and "The Public Works Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1884," and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby consent to the taking of certain lands, described in the Schedule below, for the purpose of a public road in the Waihemo County, the said lands, or some of them, being alleged by the owner or occupier thereof to be or to include or comprise a plantation or plantations.

SCHEDULE.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 roods 39.2 perches, more or less, being portion of Sections Nos. 39 and 44, Block IV.; commencing at a point distant from the south-east corner of Section No. 39 1116.3 links, on a bearing of 1° 30'. Bounded—Easterly by a line, 976 links, on a bearing of 176° 47'; Northerly by the Shag River, 101 links; Westerly by a line, 1004 links, on a bearing of 176° 47'; Southerly by a road-line, 102 links, on a bearing of 75° 32', to commencing point.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood 2.6 perches, more or less, being portion of Section No. 1, Block XV.; commencing at a point on the southern boundary of Section No. 1 distant from the south-east corner of said section 2660 links along bends of Shag River. Bounded—Easterly by a line, 240 links, on a bearing of 176° 47'; Northerly by a road-line, 116.6 links, on a bearing of 297° 46'; Westerly by a line, 292 links, on a bearing of 176° 47'; Southerly by the Shag River, 101 links, to commencing point.

The above parcels of land being situate in the Dunback Survey District, Provincial District of Otago; as more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 12466, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red: be all the above areas and linkages either more or less.
