Land temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Canterbury, and Otago.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth section of “The Land Act, 1877,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Canterbury, and Otago, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Parish of Opaheke, Drury Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods 15 perches, and being Section No. 5 of the aforesaid parish. Bounded towards the North-east by a road, 100 links wide, 1260 links; towards the South by a road, 100 links wide, 1260 links; and towards the West by a road, 100 links wide, 425 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a reserve for a public pound and Road Board offices.
All that piece or parcel of land being Lot No. 1 of Section No. 1 of the Town of Papakura, situate in the Drury Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 3 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the North-east by the Great South Road, 212 links; towards the South-east by a public road, 563 links; towards the South-west by Lot No. 2 of Section No. 1 aforesaid, 230 links; and towards the North-west by a creek to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a site for a market.
All that piece or parcel of land being part of Section No. 2 of the Town of Papakura, situate in the Drury Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland, and containing by admeasurement 2 acres 3 roods 8 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the North-east by Wood Street, 700 links; towards the South-east by Elliott Street, 400 links; towards the South-west by Green Street, 700 links; and towards the North-west by Queen Street, 400 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a recreation-ground.
HAWKE’S BAY.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, being Section No. 66, Block IX., Takapau Survey District, containing by admeasurement 18 acres 3 roods 18 perches, subject to a right of road in part 50 links wide and in part 200 links wide, as shown approximately on the maps in the Chief Surveyor’s Office at Napier. For a public recreation-ground.
CANTERBURY.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being Lot No. 13 of the subdivision of Reserve No. 1496 (in red), and numbered 2682 (in red), situate in the Ashburton Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by the north-western boundary of Reserve No. 1496, 2721 links; towards the North-east by the road-line along the north-eastern boundary of said reserve, 510 links; towards the South-east by the Railway Reserve, 2736 links; and towards the South-west by a line bearing 138° 12′ 30″, 225 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For a ballast-pit.
OTAGO.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, situate in the Waipahi District, and being Section No. 28 of Block X. of said district. Bounded towards the North-east by a road-line, 1124 links; towards the South-east by a road-line, 624 and 1113 links; and towards the West by Sections Nos. 17 and 22 respectively, 1851·5 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a school site.
All that piece or parcel of land in the County of Lake, Provincial District of Otago, known as Roy’s Island, in Lake Wanaka, situate about two miles from Pembroke. For a recreation-ground.

BY virtue of the power and authority contained in “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1885,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that all that parcel of land in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement ten acres, more or less, being Section number twenty-four, Block one, Invercargill Hundred—bounded towards the North by original Section number twenty-five of said block, one thousand and twenty-six links; towards the East by original Section number twenty-three of said block, nine hundred and seventy-four links; towards the South by Section number twenty-two of said block and by a road-line, one thousand and twenty-six links; and towards the West by original Section number twenty-nine of said block, nine hundred and seventy-four links—shall cease to be a lunatic asylum reserve. The land to be granted to the Borough of Gladstone as an endowment in aid of the funds of the said borough.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

Vesting a Reserve in Auckland.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1885,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby vest in the Education Board of the District of Auckland (being the Board charged with the administration of “The Auckland Girls’ High School Act, 1878”) all that parcel of land in the District of Auckland, situate in the Parish of Waitemata and County of Eden, containing three acres, more or less, being Section number fifty-five of the City of Auckland—bounded towards the North by Smith Street, six hundred links; on the East by Howe Street, five hundred links; on the South by Hopetown Street, six hundred links; and on the West by Park Street, five hundred links—together with the buildings thereon, as a site for the school constituted by the said “Auckland Girls’ High School Act, 1878.”
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

Vesting a Reserve in the Borough of Tauranga.

WHEREAS by section thirty-eight of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1884,” it is provided that the reserves to be made for any borough or town district under such section shall be made only in cases where no such reserves for the purpose of sections three, five, and six of “The Plans of Towns Regulation Act, 1875,” exist therein, or, if existing, do not equal or exceed the amount of reserves authorized to be made under such last-mentioned Act:
And whereas the existing reserves for the Borough of Tauranga do not equal the amount of reserves authorized to be made under “The Plans of Towns Regulation Act, 1875,” and it appears expedient to make the reserve hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the thirty-seventh and thirty-eighth sections of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1884,” and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, do hereby declare that the land enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby reserved for the purposes stated opposite to the description of such land in the second column hereto, for the benefit of the Borough of Tauranga, as constituted under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” on the twenty-first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two.
