whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to
vest the said land in the Southland County Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in him by section four of
“The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that,
from and after the day of the date hereof, the said reserve
shall become vested in the Southland County Council, in
trust, for a site for county offices.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Town of Invercargill, con-
taining by admeasurement 1 rood, being part of Customhouse
Reserve. Bounded towards the North by Forth Street, 250
links; towards the East by Clyde Street, 100 links; towards
the South by a right line at right angles with Clyde Street,
250 links; towards the West by a right line parallel to
Clyde Street, 100 links: as the same is delineated on the
plan in the Survey Office, Invercargill.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth

day of October, 1885.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the first column of
the Schedule hereto was reserved for a plantation:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expe-
dient to exchange the said land for that mentioned in the
second column of the Schedule hereto, which was reserved
for a gravel-pit:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public
Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and
after the day of the date hereof, the said reserve men-
tioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be
exchanged for the land mentioned in the second column of
the Schedule hereto.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth

day of October, 1885.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by “The Arms Act, 1880,” His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby suspend, as from the date of the publica-
tion hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the operation of all
the provisions of the said Act in so far as they relate to the
importation to the colony by any person or persons, ex-
cepting those of the Native race, of arms, ammunition,
gunpowder, lead, caps, or shot, for mining, sporting, or any
useful or harmless purpose.

Fixing Date and Place for making and collecting Rates,
Borough of Newmarket.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth

day of October, 1885.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section fourteen of “The Rating Act
1882 Amendment Act, 1885,” His Excellency the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby fix Tuesday, the twenty-seventh day of October, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, to be the day on
which the Borough Council of the Borough of Newmarket
shall meet for the purpose of making a rate of three
farthings in the pound of the rateable value of property
in the said borough, for the period ending the thirty-first
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
six, the said rate to be payable in one sum to the Col-
lector, William Dinnison, at the Newmarket Hall, New-
market, on Friday, the sixth day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, between the hours
of nine in the morning and eleven in the morning; and,
with the like advice and consent, doth order that the
valuation-roll of the Newmarket Road District for the year
ended the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-five, shall be deemed to be the valuation-roll
of the Borough of Newmarket for the year ending the thirty-
first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
six, for the purpose of making a rate as above mentioned.

Association.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by
“The Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Act, 1877,”
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby incorporate the members of
the Egmont Agricultural and Pastoral Association into a cor-
porate body under the said Act, under the style and title of
“The Egmont Agricultural and Pastoral Association.”
