Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby make the following regulation for the purposes of the said Act, that is to say,—

The public notice directed to be given by the said Act shall be in the following form :—

“Notice is hereby given that property-tax under ‘The Property-tax Act, 1885,’ for the year commencing on the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, will be payable as follows :—

“(1.) In respect of the duty of seven-eighths of a penny, where the amount of such duty shall be under fifteen pounds, the same shall be paid on the twenty-sixth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five :

“And where such duty amounts to fifteen pounds, or exceeds that sum, the same shall be paid in two equal instalments, the first of such instalments being payable on the said twenty-sixth day of November, and the second of such instalments on the tenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six :

“(2.) In respect of the duty on fire, marine, accident, fidelity, live stock, plate-glass, or guarantee policies issued by any insurance company, the same shall be paid on the tenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.

“And notice is hereby further given that the places where the said tax shall be paid shall be any post office which is also a money-order office, and at the office of the Property-tax Commissioner, at the Government Buildings, Wellington. (Signature.)

Regulations under “The Property Assessment Act, 1885.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of September, 1885.

Present :

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of all powers vested in him by “The Property Assessment Act, 1885,” and all other authorities in that behalf enabling him, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand doth hereby make the following regulations for the purposes of the said Act, that is to say,—

REGULATIONS.

  1. The statement of values shall be kept in the form in the Schedule A hereto, in lieu of that hitherto in use.

  2. The notice of assessment required to be given to each person whose name appears on the statement of values shall be in the form in the Schedule B hereto.

  3. The form of objection to be given by any person who considers himself aggrieved by reason of any assessment in which he is personally interested shall be that set forth in the Schedule C hereto, in lieu of that hitherto in use.

Assessment Number (which must be quoted when making objection). Description of Property. Local Rating. Property-tax.
Rateable Value of the Property. Valuation of Owner's Interest. Valuation of Lessee's Interest.

If you consider yourself aggrieved by the assessment, your objection must be posted to me at my office, Wellington, so that it may be received not later than the day of , 1885.

Objections must be signed by the objector, and be written on the prescribed forms, which may be obtained at any post office.

NOTE.—Public notice will be given of the sittings of the Boards of Reviewers.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifth day of October, 1885.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” it is enacted that, if it be found that any land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under that Act or any other Act or provincial ordinance, or otherwise however, for public works, is not required for public use, the Governor may, by an Order in Council, publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions therein set forth :

And whereas the Minister for Public Works has laid before the Governor the memorial referred to in the section aforesaid, praying the Governor, by an Order in Council, to cause such land to be sold :

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities aforesaid, do hereby order and authorize the land described in the Schedule hereto to be sold and dealt with in the manner and subject to the conditions of the fourteenth and following sections of the above in part recited Act.
