Revoking Rule No. 141 of the Regulations for the New Zealand Volunteer Force.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of August, 1885.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The Volunteer Act, 1881," power is given to the Governor in Council from time to time to make, alter, and revoke regulations respecting the enrolment, discipline, training, exercise, accoutrements, clothing, equipment, conveyance, pay, rations, and lodging of the Volunteer Force or any part thereof.
And whereas by an Order in Council, dated the twenty-second day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, and by subsequent Orders in Council issued under the provisions of the said Act, certain regulations were made for the purposes aforesaid: And whereas it is expedient now to revoke a portion of the same:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the said recited power and authority, doth by this present order, by and with the consent of the Executive Council, revoke Rule one hundred and forty-one of the aforesaid regulations; and, with the like advice and consent, doth hereby declare that the rule so revoked shall cease to be in force from the date of the publication hereof.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by "The Education Act, 1877," the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth make the regulation hereto annexed approving of class-books for public schools; and, with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this order shall take effect from the date hereof.
REGULATION.
THE books entitled "Two Hundred Easy Problems in Arithmetic, for Standard III., New Zealand Public Schools," and "Exercises in the Compound Rules, &c." (Wise, Caffin, and Co., Dunedin), may be used in any public school as if they had been described and included in the list of works set forth in the Order in Council dated the 24th day of September, 1878.

Vesting Reserves in the Town of Te Awamutu.

WHEREAS by section thirty-eight of "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1884," it is provided that the reserves to be made for any borough or town district under such section shall be made only in cases where no such reserves for the purpose of sections three, five, and six of "The Plans of Towns Regulation Act, 1875," exist therein, or, if existing, do not equal or exceed the amount of reserves authorized to be made under such last-mentioned Act:
And whereas the existing reserves for the Town of Te Awamutu do not equal the amount of reserves authorized to be made under "The Plans of Towns Regulation Act, 1875," and it appears expedient to make the reserves hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the thirty-seventh and thirty-eighth sections of "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1884," and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, do hereby declare that the lands enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby reserved for the purpose stated opposite to the descriptions of such land in the second column hereto, for the benefit of the Town of Te Awamutu, as constituted under the provisions of "The Town Districts Act, 1881," on the twenty-seventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.
