Season for killing Hares in North Canterbury extended.

WHEREAS by a warrant made under “The Animals
Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protec-
tion Act Amendment Act, 1881,” dated the twenty-sixth day
of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the third day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, it was
notified, amongst other things, that hares might be taken or
killed, within the North Canterbury District, from the first
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to
the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-four: And whereas it is expedient to extend the time
for taking or killing hares within the said district:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers vested in me by the said “Animals Protection
Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment
Act, 1881,” do hereby notify that hares may be taken or
killed within the said North Canterbury District until the
thirty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-four.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-third day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four.

vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries
Act, 1882,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
the several persons whose names are specified in the first
column of the Schedule hereto to have the control and
management of the public cemetery specified in the second
column of the said Schedule.

to be a Trustee, in the place of J. B. Poynter, resigned, to
provide for the maintenance and care of the Makaraka
Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons appointed
by warrant under the hand of His Excellency the Governor
on the twenty-third day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-eight.
