land described in the Schedule hereto annexed should be set
apart for sale on deferred payments:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid
recommendation, and to set apart the said land accordingly:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale
on deferred payments; and that Wednesday, the twentieth
day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
four, shall be the day on which the said land shall be open
for application.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of "The
Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," I do hereby fix the
price at which the land so described shall be sold to be the
price stated in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Marl-
borough, Survey District of Orieri, estimated to contain
1,596 acres or thereabouts. Commencing at the north-
western corner of Section 1 of 1, District of Pelorus Sound;
bounded thence towards the South by the northern boundary
of said section and that line produced to high-water mark;
thence again towards the North and West by the waters of
Pelorus Sound to a point in line with the northern boundary
of Section 1, District of Pelorus Sound aforesaid; thence
again towards the South by a right line to the north-eastern
corner of said Section 1; thence again towards the West
and North by the eastern and southern boundaries of said
Section 1 and by the southern boundary of said Section
1 produced to high-water mark; thence again towards the
West by the waters of Pelorus Sound aforesaid to a point in
line with the northern boundary of Section 2 of 70, District
of Pelorus Sound aforesaid; thence again towards the South
by a right line to the north-eastern corner of said Section
2 of 70, and by that line produced for a distance of 2000 links
or thereabouts; thence towards the South-east by a right
line to a point in transit with the southern boundary of
Section 1 of 1 aforesaid, and distant from the south-western
corner thereof 5000 links or thereabouts; thence again
towards the South by a right line to the south-western
corner of Section 1 of 1 aforesaid; thence towards the East
by the western boundary of said Section 1 of 1 to the com-
mencing point: as the same is more particularly delineated
on the official map in the office of the Chief Surveyor,
Blenheim. Upset price, £1 per acre. The sum of £15 to be
added to the price of Section 1, Block V., being cost of
survey thereof.

Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Dunedin, this sixteenth day of
January, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four.

1883."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is vested in certain aboriginal natives of New Zea-
land, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such
land, and application has been made for the removal of
such restrictions:
It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excel-
lency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty
days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and
in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the alienation
of the said land.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and

Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this twenty-third day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-three.

County of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement eight
acres and five perches, more or less, and being the Allotment
numbered eleven on the map of the Ahuahu Town Belt.

District, containing 304 acres and 32 perches, be the same a
little more or less, as the same is delineated on folio 127 of
Volume xxxiv. of the Land Register of the Wellington
District, being Sections numbers 1 and 2 of Block X. of the
Mangahao Survey District, otherwise known respectively as
the Raikohua and Tutaetapara Native Reserves.

Native Committee Districts proclaimed.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by "The Native Committees Act, 1883," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the several areas or districts of the colony described in the
Schedule hereto shall be, and the same are hereby proclaimed
to be, Native districts for the purpose of the said Act; and,
in further pursuance of the said power and authority, I
do hereby appoint each Resident Magistrate and Govern-
ment Agent whose name and office is set forth respectively
opposite the description of each district so proclaimed as
aforesaid, and having jurisdiction therein, to be the Returning
Officer or person to take steps for the election of a Native
Committee in such district in the manner prescribed by the
said Act.
