Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Auckland, this seventh day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for further portion of the Wellington-Napier Railway, namely, from about seventy-eight miles thirty chains to about eighty-one miles forty chains from Napier:

And whereas all conditions precedent required by law to be observed and performed prior to the taking of such land in the manner hereby provided have been observed and performed:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by section one hundred and thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is taken for the further portion of the said line of railway hereinbefore specified.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 roods 18·1 perches, being portion of Section No. 31, Block III.; commencing at a point on the southern boundary of Section No. 31 distant 617½ links from the main road. Bounded—South-easterly by a line, 863 links; North-easterly by Section No. 32, 104 links; North-westerly by a line, 863 links; South-westerly by Section No. 30, 104 links, to the commencing point.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 32·7 perches, being a portion of Section No. 32, Block III.; commencing at a point on the southern boundary of Section No. 32 distant 392 links from the main road. Bounded—South-easterly by a line, 837 links; South-westerly by a line, 181 links, to the main road; South-easterly by a public road, 192 links; Northerly by Section No. 33, 500 links; Westerly by a line, 45 links; South-westerly by a line, 250 links; North-westerly by a line, 865 links, to the boundary between Sections Nos. 31 and 32; thence by southern boundary of Section No. 32, 104 links, to the commencing point.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 acres 2 roods 37 perches, being a portion of Section No. 33, Block III.; commencing at the north-east corner of Section No. 33, on the main road. Bounded—South-easterly by the main road, 317, 295, and 298 links respectively, to the southern boundary of Section No. 33; South-westerly by the said boundary, 500 links; North-westerly by a line, 893 links; North-easterly by a public road, 491 links, to the commencing point.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 4 acres 1 rood 32 perches, being a portion of Section No. 34, Block III.; commencing at a point on the southern boundary of said section 105 links distant from the south-eastern angle. Bounded—South-easterly by a line, 1205 links, to a public road; North-easterly by said public road, 313 links; North-westerly by a line, 1132 links, to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 76; South-westerly by a line, 300 links, to the commencing point.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 acres 2 roods 2 perches, being a portion of Crown land in Block III.; commencing at the south-west corner of Section No. 68. Bounded—South-easterly by Section No. 68, 1171 links, to the north-western corner of Section No. 68; North-easterly by Section No. 28, 313 links; North-westerly by Section No. 69, 1172 links, to a public road; South-westerly by said road, 313 links, to the commencing point.
