ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of November, 1884.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear to the satisfaction of the Governor in Council that disease is believed to exist in the countries and places hereinafter mentioned, and that the importation of dogs from any of the said countries or places is likely to propagate disease: Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby absolutely prohibit the introduction of all dogs into the Colony of New Zealand from the countries following, that is to say, Europe, Asia, Africa, America, and the islands in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, save and except the Australasian Colonies.
And, with the like advice and consent, doth declare that this Order in Council shall come into force from and after the date hereof: Provided that this Order in Council shall not apply to animals which shall have been shipped from any of the above-mentioned countries before the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

To JAMES DRUMMOND MACPHERSON, J.P., JOHN WHITELAW, THOMAS CARMICHAEL, EBENEZER FULTON CORLEY, and WILLIAM POWELL.
WHEREAS by a certain instrument in writing, or Commission, bearing date the twenty-first day of October last, you, the said James Drummond Macpherson, John Whitelaw, Thomas Carmichael, Ebenezer Fulton Corley, and William Powell, were appointed to be Commissioners for the purposes and with the powers and authorities in the said letters patent more particularly mentioned: And whereas by the said Commission you were directed and required to report to the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand your proceedings and your opinion touching the matters mentioned therein within thirty days from the date of the said Commission: And whereas it is expedient that the said period should be extended as hereinafter provided:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby extend the period within which you shall (using all diligence) report to me, as by the said Commission provided, to sixty days from the date thereof. And, with the like advice and consent, and in further pursuance and exercise of the said power, I do hereby confirm the said Commission, except as altered by these presents.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Governor in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Christchurch, this twentieth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth section of “The Land Act, 1877,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auckland, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.

AUCKLAND.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, situate in Block XIV., Mangamuka Survey District, called or known as Sections Nos. 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, and 111, of the Township of Hokianga, and containing by admeasurement 18 acres 1 rood 25 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the North by De Thierry Street, 1618 links; towards the North-east by Manning Street, 1102 links; towards the South by a line, 2014 links; and towards the South-west by Russell Esplanade, 1011 links: save and excepting a road, 100 links wide, which intersects the area hereby described; be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on Plan No. 3653 (in blue), deposited at the Survey Office, Auckland.
