were referred to in such Proclamation as aforesaid: And
whereas "The Public Works Act, 1879," enacts that such of
the railways mentioned therein as are unfinished may be com-
pleted under the provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
"The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and "The
Public Works Act, 1879": And whereas the two hundred
and twenty-ninth section of "The Public Works Act, 1882,"
enacts as follows: "Any public work authorized under the
authority of any Act repealed by this Act, or of any Act or
Ordinance repealed by The Public Works Act, 1876,' and
any land required to be taken, purchased, or acquired for such
work, or anything commenced under any such authority as
aforesaid, may be continued, taken, purchased, or acquired,
executed, carried out, enforced, and completed under the
provisions of this Act": And whereas the land described in
the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for the said further
portion of the said branch line of railway from Edendale to
Toitois, Waitaki-Bluff Railway:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the
powers and authorities conferred by sections one hundred and
thirty and two hundred and twenty-nine of "The Public Works
Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the land described in the Schedule hereto is taken for
the said further portion of the said branch line of railway.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 34
perches, situate in Section No. 42, Block I., commencing at the
south-western corner of Section No. 42, Block I. aforesaid.
Bounded—North-westerly by a road, 342 links; Easterly by
lines, 207 and 76 links respectively; Southerly by Section No. 47,
Block IV., to point of commencement, 152 links.

Also all that other parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 5 acres and 31 perches, situate in Section No. 32,
Block IV., commencing at the south-western corner of Section
No. 42, Block I., aforesaid. Bounded—Northerly by Section No.
42, Block I., 152 links; Easterly by lines, 906 and 2556 links re-
spectively; Southerly by Section No. 47, Block IV., 152 links;
Westerly by lines to the point of commencement, 2530 and 932
links respectively.

Also all that other parcel of land containing by admeasure
ment 1 acre and 37 perches, situate in Section No. 47,
Block IV., commencing at a point on the southern boundary
of Section No. 32, Block IV., 102 links from the south-eastern
corner. Bounded—Northerly by Section No. 32 aforesaid,
152 links; Westerly by a line, 820 links; Southerly by Section
No. 50 (Gravel Reserve), 152 links; Easterly by a line to point
of commencement, 820 links.

All that other parcel of land containing by admeasurement
2 acres and 38 perches, situate in Section No. 50 (Gravel
Reserve), Block IV., commencing at a point on the northern
boundary of said section 765 links from the north-eastern
corner. Bounded—Westerly by lines, 338, 1111, and 41 links
respectively; Southerly by a road, 151 links; Easterly by lines
25, 1153, and 311 links respectively; Northerly by Section No.
47, Block IV., 152 links, to point of commencement.

Also all that parcel of land containing by admeasurement
9 acres 1 rood 37 perches, situate in Section No. 1, Block IV.,
commencing at a point on the northern boundary of said section
1418 links from north-western corner thereof. Bounded—
Northerly by a road, 151 links; Easterly by a line, 3273 links;
Northerly by a line, 122 links; Easterly by a line, 1905 links;
South-westerly by Wyndham River, 290 links; Westerly by
a road, 1746 links; South-westerly by said road, 52 links;
Westerly by a line to point of commencement, 3211 links.

All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 acres
1 rood 14 perches, situate in Sections Nos. 7 and 10, Block
IV., commencing at a point on the southern boundary of
Section No. 7 aforesaid 136 links from the north-western corner of
Section No. 30, Block IV. Bounded—Generally South-easterly
by lines, 419, 382, 653, and 612 links respectively; North-
easterly by a road, 200 links; North-westerly by a road, 522
and 1163 links respectively, and by a line, 522 links; Southerly
by a Quarry Reserve to point of commencement, 113 and 84
links respectively.

All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 acres
2 roods 2 perches, situate in Quarry Reserve, Block IV., com-
mencing at a point on the northern boundary of said reserve
136 links from the north-western corner of Section No. 30,
Block IV. Bounded—Northerly by Section No. 7, Block IV.,
84, 113, and 133 links respectively; North-westerly by a road,
226 links; Westerly by a road, 1010 links; South-westerly by
said road, 185 links; Southerly by Section No. 30, Block IV.,
157 and 83 links respectively; generally Easterly by lines to
point of commencement, 30, 860, and 553 links respectively.

All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 5 acres
2 roods 6 perches, situate in Sections Nos. 30 and 27, Block IV.,
commencing at a point on the south-westernmost corner of

3 roods 16 perches, situate in Sections Nos. 8 and 40, Block IV.,
commencing at a point on the southern boundary of said
Section No. 40, 558 links from the south-western corner thereof.
Bounded—Southerly by a road, 104 links; Easterly by a
line, 393 links; generally North-easterly by lines, 1090 and
1251 links respectively; Northerly by Section No. 27, Block IV.,
526 links; Westerly by Section No. 30, Block IV., 32 links;
Southerly by a line, 460 links; South-easterly by a line, 10 links;
generally South-westerly by lines, 1279, 50, and 940 links
respectively; Westerly by a line, 364 links, to point of com-
mencement.

All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 13 acres
and 3 perches, situate in Sections Nos. 18, 5, 3, and 11, Block
VI., and Sections Nos. 2 and 14, Block V., commencing at a
point on the northern boundary of Section No. 18, Block IV.,
543 links from the north-western corner. Bounded—Northerly
by main road, 140 links; Easterly by lines, 211, 453, 521,
655, 296, 382, 264, 1095, 509, 427, 456, 120, 944, 454, and
507 links respectively; Northerly by a line, 40 links; Easterly
by lines, 409, 332, 571, 28, and 435 links respectively;
South-westerly by a road, 32, 77, and 108 links respectively;
Westerly by lines, 348, 553, 332, and 452 links respectively;
Northerly by a line, 25 links; Westerly by lines, 420, 87, 424,
326, 618, 130, 325, 190, 427, 465, 1095, and 250 links re-
spectively; Northerly by Section No. 18, Block VI., 14 links;
Westerly by lines, 435, 296, and 581 links respectively; Southerly
by a line, 15 links; Westerly by lines to point of commencement,
521, 463, and 250 links respectively: be all the aforesaid measure-
ments more or less; and the several parcels of land being situate
in the Wyndham Survey District, Provincial District of Otago,
Colony of New Zealand, and are more particularly delineated
upon the plan marked P.W.D. 10105, deposited in the office of
the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this ninth day of July, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The Land Act,
1877," it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclamation
in the Gazette, may from time to time set apart out of any
suburban or rural lands such blocks or allotments of land as he
shall think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred pay-
ments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day on which the
land shall be open for application; and that he may also in like
manner set apart for sale on deferred payments such blocks or
allotments as may be recommended by any Land Board, and
may also from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:

And whereas the Land Board of Taranaki did, on the fourth
day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, pass
a resolution recommending that the land described in the
Schedule hereto annexed should be set apart for sale on deferred
payments:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid
recommendation, and to set apart the said land accordingly:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the above-
named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on deferred
