Invercargill, Edendale, and Gore.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS a certain railway was proclaimed in the New
Zealand Gazette of the twenty-second day of May,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, under the name
of the Invercargill and Mataura Railway, and the said railway
now forms part of the Waitaki-Bluff Railway:
And whereas the two hundred and twenty-ninth section of
“The Public Works Act, 1882,” enacts that any public work
authorized under the authority of any Act repealed by this
Act, or of any Act or Ordinance repealed by “The Public
Works Act, 1876,” and any land required to be taken, pur-
chased, or acquired for such work, or anything commenced
under any such authority as aforesaid, may be continued,
taken, purchased, or acquired, executed, carried out, enforced,
and completed under the provisions of this Act:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is
required for portions of the said Waitaki-Bluff Railway:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by virtue and in pursuance of the power
conferred upon him by the one hundred and thirtieth and two
hundred and twenty-ninth sections of “The Public Works Act,
1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby proclaim and declare
that the said land so described in the Schedule hereto is taken
for the said portions of the said railway from Waitaki to
Bluff.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 2 acres
1 rood, situate in the Town of Invercargill, commencing at the
South-eastern junction of Liddel and Forth Streets. Bounded
—Northerly by Forth Street, 250 links; Easterly by portion
of Government reserve, 100 links; Northerly by aforesaid
portion, 250 links; Easterly by Clyde Street, 400 links;
Southerly by Friedhorn Street, 500 links; Westerly by Liddel
Street to point of commencement, 500 links.
Also all that parcel of land containing by admeasurement
2 roods, being Sections Nos. 1 and 2, Block IV., Township of
Edendale.
Also all that parcel of land containing by admeasurement
2 acres 2 roods 11 perches, being Sections Nos. 1 and 2,
Block X., 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8, Block XII., and 1, Block XIV.,
Township of Gore.
All the aforesaid measurements being more or less, and the
several parcels of land being situated in the Townships of Inver-
cargill, Edendale, and Gore respectively, in the Provincial
District of Otago, Colony of New Zealand; and are more
particularly delineated on the maps marked P.W.D. 10029,
10030, and 10031, deposited in the office of the Minister for
Public Works, Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.

Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this ninth day of July, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

Defining the Middle Line of further Portion of the Branch
Line of Railway from the Main Line (Hurunui-Waitaki)
to Upper Ashburton.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the branch line of railway from the main line
(Hurunui-Waitaki) to Upper Ashburton is one of the
railways specified in the First Schedule to “The Public Works
Act, 1879,” and which Act is, in the seventh section thereof,
declared to be a special Act authorizing the construction of such
railway; and the same is unfinished, and it has been determined
to construct and maintain a further portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and in pur-
suance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the
aforesaid section seven of “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and
by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and
thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in exercise of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of
the said further portion of the said railway shall be from a
point in Rural Section number thirty-one thousand two hundred
and four, Mount Somers Road District, to a point in Rural
Section number thirty thousand seven hundred and eighty-two,
in said district, Provincial District of Canterbury, as defined
and set forth in the Schedule hereto. The said middle line and
the land through which the same passes are set forth in the map
and plan marked P.W.D. 10084, and authenticated for the
purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of the Honour-
able Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public Works,
and which said map and plan is deposited in the office of the
Registrar of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the
Provincial District of Canterbury.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Crown land distant about 22 chains
in a west-north-westerly direction from the north-west corner
of Rural Section No. 31204, in the Mount Somers Road
District, said point being the point of termination of another
portion of the railway from main line to Upper Ashburton, as
described in the Proclamation dated the 6th December, 1880,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 115, of the
9th December, 1880; proceeding thence in a north-westerly
direction for a distance of 2 miles 46 chains 60 links, and
passing in, into, through, or over the following lands, viz.:
In Mount Somers Road District—Rural Sections Nos. 25143
and 30698; Crown land—Rural Sections Nos. 31079 and 30782;
and terminating in the said Rural Section No. 30782, at a point
distant about 15 chains from the westernmost corner of said
Section No. 30782; as shown on the map of the Chief Surveyor
of the Provincial District of Canterbury; including all
adjoining roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; all
within Mount Somers Road District, Provincial District of
Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand; in the manner delineated
upon the plan marked P.W.D. 10084, signed by the Honourable
Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public Works, and
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Christchurch; the total length being 2 miles 46 chains and 60
links or thereabouts.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the authority of
sections one hundred and twenty-two, one hundred and
twenty-three, and one hundred and twenty-four of “The Public
Works Act, 1876,” the middle line of a further portion of the
branch line of railway from Edendale to Toitois, from the
main line, Waitaki to Bluff (Mokoreta Contract), being one of
the railways specified in “The Public Works Act, 1879,” was
defined: And whereas, pursuant to the one hundred and
twenty-fifth section of “The Public Works Act, 1876,” the
Minister for Public Works has caused to be made and, on the
twenty-fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-two, to be deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Invercargill, in the Provincial District of
Otago, such maps and plans as were necessary to explain the
said further portion of the said branch line of railway and the
