Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in him by
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and by and with the
advice of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
order that the time for holding the said election of Auditors of
the said Borough of Masterton shall be extended until the
ninth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
three.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day
of June, 1883.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the second section of "The Property-Tax
Act, 1882," it is provided that the duties therein men-
tioned shall be paid on such day or days as the Governor in
Council may direct:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor in Council, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in
him by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in
anywise enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of
New Zealand, doth hereby appoint that the day on which
the duties payable by insurance companies shall be payable
shall be the sixteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-three.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

June, 1883.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir
William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the Cambridge-Rotorua
Road shall and may be constructed on or through the several
parcels of land more particularly described in the Schedule
hereto, and delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 10013, de-
posited in the office of the Minister for Public Works at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, in the
said colony.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on the south-eastern boundary of
Section No. 5 of Maraeroa-Oturoa Block, No. 5478, in the Roto-
rua Survey District, and proceeding thence in a generally south-
easterly direction for a distance of 8 miles 69 chains or there-
abouts, and terminating at a point on the Rotorua and Tauranga
Road, near the Ngungotaha Creek, passing in, into, through, or
over the following lands: Native land and Maniaroa-Puruha
Block, No. 5171: the above-described road not to be less than 1
chain wide; as the same is more particularly delineated upon
the plan marked P.W.D. 10013, deposited in the office of the
Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington.

Assent to Construction of the Thames Valley and Rotorua
Railway, and Area and Boundaries of Railway District-
(Section I., Morrinsville-Lichfield.)

WHEREAS by "The District Railways Act, 1877," and
"The District Railways Act 1877 Amendment Act,
1878" (herein referred to as "the said Acts"), it is enacted
that, whenever the Governor shall approve of or object to any
proposed railway, he shall, by notice gazetted, declare his assent
to or disapproval of the construction of the railway, and such
notice, when so published, shall be sufficient notice to the com-
pany of such approval or dissent, as the case may be; and that
in and by any notice of approval the Governor shall declare the
area and boundaries proposed to be a railway district for the
purposes of the said Acts, and such declaration shall be sufficient
evidence of the constitution of such district for the purposes of
the said Acts:
And whereas the Thames Valley and Rotorua Railway Com-
pany (Limited) propose to construct a railway under the said
Acts, and ratepayers and owners of property representing two-
thirds of the value of the rateable property in the proposed
district have consented to the construction of the proposed
railway:
And whereas the said Company have made application to me
for my approval of the construction of the said railway, and all
things have been done and performed as required by the said
Acts to obtain such approval:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pur-
suance of the powers vested in me by the said Acts, and of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby notify and declare that I do hereby assent to
the construction of the Thames Valley and Rotorua Railway,
from Morrinsville to Lichfield, all in the Provincial District of
Auckland, as shown on the plan and in the book of reference;
and I further notify and declare that the area and boundaries
of the district for the purposes of the said railway are as de-
scribed in the accompanying Schedule.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area of land situated in the Provincial District of
Auckland, containing 548,000 acres or thereabouts, bounded as
follows, that is to say,-
Commencing at the north-west corner of Motumaho No. 2
Block; thence north-easterly along the northern and western
boundary of the said block and north-western boundary of the
Taukoro Block to the Piako River; thence southerly along the
western bank of the Piako River to its junction with the
Waitakaruru Stream; thence south-westerly along the centre
of the said last-mentioned stream to its junction with the
Topehaehae Stream; thence south-easterly along the centre of
the last-mentioned stream to the south-east corner of the Te
Mutu No. 2 Block; thence by a straight line bearing N. 52° E.,
202 chains, to the surveyed road-line from Morrinsville to the
Matamata Road, through the Maungatapu Block; thence easterly
by the southern boundary of the said road to the north-east
corner of Subdivision Lot 4 of Block VIII., Maungakawa
Survey District; thence south-easterly by the south-west
boundary of the surveyed road to Matamata, from Waihou
Township to the south-east boundary of Subdivision Lot 1 of
Block VIII., Maungakawa Survey District; thence easterly in
a straight line to the Waihou River, through Trig. 579;
thence by the south-east side of the said Waihou River to the
Wairere Stream; thence along the centre of the said Wairere
Stream to the north-east corner of Block Okauia No. 1; thence
by a line bearing S. 24° W., 426 chains; thence by a line bearing
S. 25° E., 130 chains; thence by a line bearing S. 10° E., 204
chains; thence by a line bearing S. 25° E., 185 chains; thence by
a straight line to the northernmost corner of Block Whaiti-
Kuranui No. 44 (northern portion); thence by the easterly
boundary of the last-mentioned block to the south-east corner
of Block Whaiti-Kuranui 4D; thence south-easterly along
the centre of the Waiwakangau Stream to the north-west
corner of Block Paengaroa No. 4; thence by the south-west
boundary of the last mentioned block to the south-east
boundary of the same block; thence easterly by a straight line
to the north-east corner of Block Whaiti-Kuranui (northern
portion) 2D; thence by the south-east boundaries of Blocks
Whaiti-Kuranui (northern portion) 2D, 2B, 2B, 1A, 1B, and 10
respectively, and the south-east boundary of Block Whaiti-
Kuranui (southern portion) 1A to the north-east corner of the
Kokako Block; thence by the north-east boundary of the
Kokako Block to the south-east boundary of the said Kokako
Block; thence in a straight line to the north-east corner of
Block Tokoroa No. 1; thence by the easterly and south-easterly
boundary of the last-mentioned block to the southerly boundary
of the same block; thence by the southerly boundary of the
same block, 426 chains; thence by a line bearing S. 10° E., 146
