Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public Works, and which
said map and plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar of
the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the Provincial District
of Canterbury.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on the Hurunui-Waitaki Railway
about 7 miles from Lyttelton and 1 chain east of the western
boundary of Windmill Street; proceeding thence in a generally
westerly direction for a distance of 14 chains or thereabouts,
and terminating at a point on the Hurunui-Waitaki Railway
aforesaid, and passing in, into, through, or over the following
lands, viz.: Rural Section No. 17, Borough of Sydenham,
Provincial District of Canterbury; and including all adjoining
and intervening lands, roads, reserves, and watercourses; in
the manner delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 10155,
signed by the Hon. Walter Woods Johnston, Minister for
Public Works, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public
Works at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this twentieth day of June, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

Terms and Conditions of Sale of the Makarewa Village
Settlement, Southland Land District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day
of June, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the twenty-first section of "The Land Act
1877 Amendment Act, 1879," it is enacted that the
Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions upon
which the lands comprised in any village settlement shall be
disposed of, and the mode of payment for the same: And
whereas His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand has, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette,
bearing date this twenty-first day of June, set apart the
lands enumerated in the Schedules hereto for sale as a village
settlement:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred upon him by the hereinbefore in part
recited Act, and by and with the advice of the Executive Coun-
cil of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby fix the following
terms and conditions upon which the said village settlement
shall be disposed of, and the mode of payment for the same,
that is to say, -

The lands enumerated in the Schedules hereto shall be
disposed of as small-farm for cash and upon deferred-payments. -
The day upon which the lands shall be open for application
shall be Wednesday, the twenty-fifth day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three, at the Land Office, Invercargill. -
The lands enumerated in the First Schedule hereto shall
be sold for cash immediately on purchase, and the lands enume-
rated in the Second Schedule hereto shall be sold on deferred
payments. -
The lands which are disposed of by sale upon deferred
payments shall be subject to the provisions relating to suburban
lands of Part III. of "The Land Act, 1877," and to the pro-
visions of section nine of "The Land Act 1877 Amendment
Act, 1879." -
No person shall be allowed to acquire more than one sec-
tion upon either immediate or deferred payments. -
The prices stated in the Schedules hereto shall be the
prices at which the lands shall be open for application.

Southland Land District one-tenth of the price of the allotment.
Such payment shall be deemed to be a discharge of the license-
fee for the six months due on the first day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-four. -
The purchaser of any lands described in Schedule I., upon
the full payment of the purchase-money, and the purchaser of
any lands described in Schedule II., upon the like payment,
and also the fulfilment of the terms and conditions prescribed
by "The Land Act, 1877," "The Land Act 1877 Amendment
Act, 1879," and "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882,"
relating to land on deferred payments, will be entitled to his
Crown grant, to be issued in the usual way upon payment of
the fees prescribed by law.
