Aroha District; Lots, 5, 6, 7, and 8, Section No. 25, Te Aroha
Gold Field Town; and all adjoining and intervening places,
roads, streams, and watercourses; and terminating at or near a
point situated on the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 25,
Te Aroha Gold Field Town, Aroha District, Te Aroha Survey
District, all within the Provincial District of Auckland, Colony
of New Zealand; the same being more particularly delineated
upon the plan marked P.W.D. 9987, deposited in the office of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Auckland, in the Pro-
vincial District of Auckland; the total length being 11 miles
25 chains or thereabouts.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Auckland,
this ninth day of May, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

Defining the Middle Line of Further Portion of the Foxton-
New Plymouth Railway (Whenuakura Ballast-pit).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the line of railway from Foxton to New Plymouth
is one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to
"The Public Works Act, 1879," and which Act is, in the seventh
section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorizing the
construction of such railway; and the same is unfinished, and
it has been determined to construct and maintain a further
portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and in
pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the
aforesaid section seven of "The Public Works Act, 1879," and
by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and
thirty of "The Public Works Act, 1882," and in exercise of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of
the said further portion of the said railway shall be from a
point in Section Number thirty-two, Wairoa Survey District,
to a point in aforesaid section, Provincial District of Wellington,
as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto. The said middle
line and the land through which the same passes are set forth in
the map and plan marked P.W.D. 10,001, and authenticated for
the purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of the
Honourable Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public
Works, and which said map and plan is deposited in the office
of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on the centre line of railway, as
described in a Proclamation dated the 19th January, 1882, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 8, of the 26th
January, 1882; proceeding thence in a generally north-easterly
and north-westerly direction for a distance of 33 chains; passing
in, through, or over Section No. 32, Wairoa Survey District,
and terminating at a point in section No. 32 aforesaid, all within
the Provincial District of Wellington, Colony of New Zealand;
and including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads,
reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the manner
delineated on plan marked P.W.D. 10,001, signed by the Hon.
Walter Woods Johnston, Minister for Public Works, and
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington; the total
distance being 33 chains or thereabouts.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William

Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the authority of
"The Public Works Act, 1882," the middle line of a
further portion of the line of railway from Foxton to New
Plymouth (Whenuakura Ballast-pit), being one of the railways
specified in "The Public Works Act, 1879," was defined: And
whereas pursuant to the one hundred and thirtieth section
of "The Public Works Act, 1882," the Minister for Public
Works has caused to be made and, on the twenty-eighth day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to be
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, such maps
and plans as were necessary to explain the said further portion of
the said line of railway and the land through which the same
passes, and such maps and plans were referred to in such
Proclamation as aforesaid: And whereas the land described
in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for the said
further portion of the said line of railway from Foxton to
New Plymouth:
Now, therefore, I., William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the
powers and authorities conferred by section one hundred and
thirty of "The Public Works Act, 1882," and of every other
power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the
Schedule hereto is taken for the said further portion of the
said line of railway.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
6 acres 3 roods 11 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey
District of Wairoa, Provincial District of Wellington, being
portion of Section No. 32, commencing at a point at right
angies and distant 449 links from a point on the north-eastern
boundary of said Section No. 32, the last-named point being
distant 1978 links from the north-western corner of said
Section No. 32. Bounded-Generally on the North-east by
lines, 518, 653, and 594 links respectively; generally Easterly by
a line, 99 links; generally South-westerly by lines, 368 and
406 links respectively; generally South-easterly by lines, 350,
306, and 290 links respectively; generally North-easterly by a
line, 323 links; generally South-westerly by land acquired
for railway 120 links, and by a line 270 links; generally
North-westerly by lines, 353, 316, and 360 links respectively;
generally South-westerly by a line, 479 links; generally
Westerly to the commencing point by a line, 403 links: as
the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked
P.W.D. 9943, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public
Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
