suburban or rural lands such blocks or allotments of land as he
shall think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred pay-
ments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day on which the
land shall be open for application; and that he may also in like
manner set apart for sale on deferred payments such blocks or
allotments as may be recommended by any Land Board, and
may also from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:
And whereas the Land Board of Otago did, on the eleventh
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three,
pass a resolution recommending that the land described in the
Schedule hereto annexed should be set apart for sale on deferred
payments:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid
recommendation, and to set apart the said land accordingly:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exer-
cise of the power and authority vested in me by the above-named
Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in
the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on deferred payments;
and that Tuesday, the nineteenth day of June, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-three, shall be the day on which
the said land shall be open for application in allotments as
surveyed and marked on the selection map in the principal
Land Office of the district.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of “The Land
Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” I do hereby fix the price at
which the land so described shall be sold to be the price set
opposite each allotment in the Schedule hereto.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested
in him by the fiftieth section of “The Land Act 1877
Amendment Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority
enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare
that the blocks and sections of land enumerated in the Schedule
hereto shall be subject to the provisions of sections three to
forty-eight of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882.”

Defining the Middle Line of further Portion of the Welling-
ton–Napier Railway (Awapurua Bridge Contract).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the line of railway from Wellington to Napier
is one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to
“The Public Works Act, 1879,” and which Act is, in the seventh
section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorizing the
construction of such railway; and the same is unfinished, and
it has been determined to construct and maintain a further
portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and in pur-
suance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the
aforesaid section seven of “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and
by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and
thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in exercise of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of
the said further portion of the said railway shall be from a
point in Mangatainoka Block number one (B), Native reserve,
Provincial District of Wellington, to a point in Section number
one hundred and seventy-three, Block eight, Woodville Survey
District, Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, as defined and set
forth in the Schedule hereto. The said middle line and the
land through which the same passes are set forth in the map
and plan marked P.W.D. 10,000, and authenticated for the
purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of the Honour-
able Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public Works,
and which said map and plan is deposited in the office of the
Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington, and also in the office of the Registrar of
the Supreme Court at Napier, in the Provincial District of
Hawke’s Bay.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Mangatainoka Block No. 1B, Native
Reserve, Mangahoe Survey District, County of Wairarapa East,
Provincial District of Wellington, proceeding thence in a north-
easterly direction for a distance of 55 chains, and passing in,
into, through, or over the following lands, &c.: Mangatainoka,
Block No. 1B, Native Reserve, Mangahoe Survey District, Pro-
