sincerely declare that the above statement is, to the best of

I hereby apply for a Gold-Mining Lease of the lands
hereinafter described, in accordance with the Gold-
Mining Leases Regulations of New Zealand, and we agree,
upon the approval of this application, to execute a lease
upon the basis therein stated, if the Governor shall think fit
to grant the same.

Christchurch Quartz-Mining Company.
Extent of Land applied for: 16¼ acres.
Minimum Number of Men to be employed by the Lessee:
Two men. (1) For the first months, two men; (2) Sub-
sequently, when in full work, twelve men.
Amount of Capital proposed to be invested: £20,000.
Proposed Mode of working the Land: By tunnels and
shafts.
Precise Locality: On the eastern side of the dividing range
at the head-waters of the Wilberforce River (Davie) District
No. 1, north of McGregor's lease.
Term for which Lease required: Fifteen years.
Time of commencing Operations: At once.
General Remarks: Snow being on the ground defacing our
marks, we would like the survey proceeded with at once.

The above application and any objections thereto will be
heard at the Land Office at Christchurch, on 10th January,
1884.
Any person desiring to object to the issue of a mining
lease upon the above application must, within twenty-one
clear days from the date of such application, enter his
objection at the Land Office at Christchurch.

A GENERAL Meeting of the above Company will be
held at the Foresters' Hall, Marton, on the 7th day
of February, 1884, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, for the
purpose of receiving the Liquidators' account of the winding-
up, and of the property of the Company, and of hearing any
explanation the Liquidators may have to give.

THE MARTON HALL COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that, at the meeting of the
Marton Hall Company (Limited) held at the Foresters'
Hall, Marton, on Friday, the seventh day of December
instant, the subjoined resolutions were duly passed:—

RESOLUTIONS.

  1. That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this
    meeting that the Company cannot, by reason of its liabilities,
    continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the
    same.
  2. That the Company be wound up voluntarily, and that
    William Fox, William Jarvis Willis, and John McBeth be
    and are hereby appointed Liquidators for the purpose of such
    winding-up.

WALLACE COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOTICE UNDER "THE PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1882."

NOTICE is hereby given that the Wallace County
Council intend to take part of Section 102, Taringatura
District, for a road in lieu of a road stopped, and that the
said Council have caused a plan to be prepared showing the
land required to be taken for the same, together with the
names of the owners and occupiers of such land as far as
they can be ascertained, and that such plan is deposited at
the store of Mr. Frederick Dyer, Mossburn, County of
Wallace, and open for inspection by all persons at all reason-
able hours; and all persons affected are hereby called upon
to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the
execution of such work or the taking of such lands, and to
send such writing, within forty days from the first publication
of this notice, to the Wallace County Council, at their office
at Riverton.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore
subsisting between FREDERICK RICH and JAMES REID,
as Farmers, at Campbelltown, Manawatu, under the styles
of "F. Rich and Co." and "Rich and Reid," has been dis-
solved by mutual consent, as and from the twentieth day of
November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.
Mr. Rich will in future carry on the business on his own
account, and will receive all accounts due to and pay all
debts owing by the late firm.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership lately sub-
sisting between us, the undersigned JOHN ALLANACH
and OTTO HANSEN, both of Gisborne, in the District of
Poverty Bay, in New Zealand, Bottlers of Beer, Ale, Stout,
and Porter, has this day been dissolved by mutual consent,
and that all debts due or owing to or by the late firm will be
received and paid by the said Otto Hansen.
