NOTICE GIVEN IN CONFORMITY WITH THE PROVISIONS OF PART II., SECTION 10, SUBSECTIONS 1, 2, 3, AND 4 OF “THE PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1882.”
NOTICE is hereby given that, in consequence of the dangerous nature of the road leading down to the bridge at Deep Stream, on the road from Clark’s to Strath-Taieri, the Taieri County Council intend to take a new line of road (more particularly described in Schedule hereto attached) through the property of Messrs. William Warner Reid and Neenan Thomas Reid, and the property of Messrs. Alexander Peat and Sons; and the Council call on those persons to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of such works or to the taking of such lands, and to send such writing within forty days from the 11th October to the County Council at Mosgiel.
The plan of the proposed road-line is deposited at Clark’s Junction Hotel, where it lies for the inspection of any person interested.
SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.
Firstly. All that area of land in the Provincial District of Otago, and Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement five (5) acres one (1) rood and thirteen and two-tenths (13·2) poles, being a deviation through Sections 5 and 6, B. IV., Lee Stream District, as delineated on the plan and coloured green. Commencing at a point on the south-eastern boundary of said Section 6, and distant from the south-eastern corner of same twelve hundred and ten and three-tenths (1210·3) links; and bounded thence generally on the South-east by part of said Section 6 and Section 5, five thousand two hundred and thirty-seven and eight-tenths (5237·8) links; thence on the North-east by a road-line, one hundred and twelve and one-tenth (112·1) links; thence generally on the North-west by other parts of said Sections 5 and 6, five thousand three hundred and seventy-three and one-tenth (5373·1) links; and, finally, on the South-east by other parts of deviation, one hundred and fifteen and two-tenths (115·2) links, to the commencing point.
Secondly. That portion containing by admeasurement nine (9) acres and nineteen and four-tenths (19·4) poles, being a deviation through Sections 20 and 21, B. V., as delineated on the plan and coloured green. Commencing again at the aforesaid point; and being bounded thence generally on the North-east by parts of Sections 20 and 21, nine thousand and thirty (9030) links; thence on the South-east by a road-line, one hundred and five and twenty-five hundredths (105·25) links; thence generally on the South-west by other parts of said Sections 21 and 20, nine thousand two hundred and forty (9240) links; and finally on the North-west by first part of deviation, one hundred and fifteen and two-tenths (115·2) links, to the commencing point: all the aforesaid areas and linkages being a little more or less.
The above-mentioned parcels of land are pegged out upon the ground; and it is intended by the Taieri County Council to use the said land for the purposes of forming and metalling a roadway thereon, building culverts, and carrying out any works necessary and pertaining to the laying out and construction and maintenance of a road.

LAND REQUIRED BY JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD FOR PUBLIC ROAD.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Johnsonville Town Board to undertake a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a road through Sections 96, 7 N.R., and 8 N.R., Block XI., Belmont Survey District, and for that purpose to take the required land from those sections.
The new road-line commences at a point 180·9 links south of the south-western corner of Section 7 N.R., at its intersection with No. 1, Ohariu Road, and runs thence in a north-easterly direction along the boundaries of Sections Nos. 96, 7 N.R., and thence through part of Section No. 8 N.R. to the junction of the said road with No. 2, Ohariu Road.
All persons affected by the execution of the proposed works are called upon to set forth their objections in writing, and send them to the office of the Johnsonville Town Board within forty days of this date.
The map showing the proposed work is on view at the office of the Board.

ROAD BOARD NOTICE.
PENINSULA ROAD BOARD.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Peninsula Road Board, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” to take the land hereinafter described for the purpose of constructing a road, and all persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-founded objections to the taking of such land, and to send such writing within forty days from the publication hereof to the Peninsula Road Board; and notice is hereby given that the plan of such land is open for inspection at the office of the Peninsula Road Board, Highcliff Schoolhouse. The following is a description of the said land:—
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood 6·3 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey District of Otago Peninsula, Provincial District of Otago, being portion of Section 16, Block I., Otago Peninsula, commencing at a point in the southern boundary of Section 16 distant from the south-west corner of Section 16, 244·4 links; bounded towards the West by a line, 593·3 links, on a bearing of 31° 47′; towards the North by a line, 66 links, on a bearing of 146° 26′; towards the East by a line, 371·8 links, on a bearing of 30° 47′; towards the South to commencing point by a road-line, 203·1 links, on a bearing of 228° 58′.
Also all that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 6·9 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey District of Otago Peninsula, Provincial District of Otago, being portion of Section 43, Block I., Otago Peninsula, commencing at a point in the northern boundary of Section 43 distant from the south-west corner of Section 39, 176 links; bounded towards the North by a road-line, 197·5 links, on a bearing of 245° 47′; towards the North-west by a road-line, 98 links, on a bearing of 48° 7′, to commencing point.
Also all that piece of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood 28·6 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey District of Otago Peninsula aforesaid, being other portion of Section 16, Block I., Otago Peninsula, and portion of Section 39, same block, commencing at a point in the southern boundary of said Section 39 distant 51·4 links from its south-western corner; bounded towards the North by a line on a bearing of 71° 46′, 51·4 links; towards the North-west, 480·3 links, on a line bearing 56° 17′; again towards the North, 306·6 links, on a line bearing 63° 53′; towards the West by the parcel of land firstly hereinbefore described, 60 links, on a line bearing 146° 26′; towards the South, 293·2 links, on a line bearing 243° 53′; towards the South 208·9 links on a line bearing 256° 22′ 30″, and by a road-line 308·4 links to the commencing point.

NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with “The Public Works Act, 1882,” that it is the intention of the Lincoln Road Board to take all that piece of land, 1 chain wide, running through Rural Section No. 2968, Lincoln Road District, and extending from the southernmost corner of Rural Section No. 9887 to the northernmost corner of Rural Section No. 4360, for the purpose of a road to connect Moreshead’s Road with the road between Minchin’s and Stoddart’s land to the Ellesmere Junction Road, and containing one acre one rood thirty-eight perches and seven-tenths of a perch, more or less, as delineated on the plan and coloured green. The said plan is open for inspection at my house, Prebbleton, till the 12th day of November, 1883. Any well-grounded objections to the taking of the said land must be forwarded in writing to the Chairman of the Lincoln Road Board, Prebbleton, on or before the expiration of the aforesaid date.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership which has for some time past been carried on by THOMAS GEORGE HUDSON, MORRIS SAMUEL RIDLEY, and WALTON SALKELD, under the style or firm of “Hudson, Ridley, and Co.,” at Christchurch, New Zealand, as General Importers and Produce Merchants, and under the style or firm of “W. Salkeld and Co.,” at 58, St. Mary Axe, London, was dissolved by mutual consent as and from the 31st day of December, 1882. The business will in future be carried on by Thomas George Hudson and Morris Samuel Ridley, under the style of “Hudson, Ridley, and Co.” As witness our hands this 1st day of October, 1883.
