Except as aforesaid, no person shall fish or use any net
or other engine, instrument, or device for taking fish in any
lake, river, or stream in the Counties of Fiord and Wallace,
and of Southland to the west of the Mataura River; and
all persons offending against this regulation shall be liable to
a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds. -
Any person who puts, throws, or places, or allows to be
put, thrown, or placed, into any lake, river, or stream in the
said counties any dynamite or other explosive substance, or
any matter or liquid deleterious to fish, shall be liable to a
penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds. -
These regulations shall come into force as from the date
hereof.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this sixteenth day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-three.

Conditions for Trout-fishing in Otago.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him
by "The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867," His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand doth hereby
make the following regulations for the District of Otago :-
- Any holder of a license may fish with rod and line for
trout in all the rivers and streams into which trout have
been placed within and forming the boundaries of the
following district, from the first day of October, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to the thirty-first
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four,
both inclusive, viz.,-
All that area in the Provincial District of Otago, bounded
on the East and South by the ocean, from Shag Point to the
mouth of the Mataura River; on the West, South-west, and
South by the Mataura River and the Counties of Southland
and Wallace; on the North-west by the ocean; and on the
North, North-west, and North-east by the Counties of West-
land and Waitaki.

Licenses to fish in the above-described district will
be issued under the hand of the Secretary of the Otago
Acclimatisation Society at Dunedin, and for every license
a fee of twenty shillings will be charged. -
No license shall authorise any person other than the
person named therein to fish, and that only with rod and
line, and between the hours of midnight on Sunday and
midnight on Saturday in each week. -
Any person fishing without a license, or any person who
shall, on demand of any person holding and showing a license,
or on the demand of any ranger, police officer, or constable,
fail to produce and show to such person, ranger, police officer,
or constable, his license, shall be liable to a penalty not ex-
ceeding twenty pounds. -
All trout not exceeding eight inches in length taken by
any person fishing as aforesaid shall be immediately returned
alive to the water; and any person convicted of infringing
this regulation shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding
twenty pounds sterling, and his license shall thereupon be-
come void. -
Except as aforesaid, no person shall fish or use any net
or other engine, instrument, or device for taking fish in any
river or stream within the above-described district; and all
persons offending against this regulation shall be liable to a
penalty not exceeding fifty pounds. -
Any person who puts, throws, or places, or allows to be
put, thrown, or placed, into any river or stream in the said
district, any dynamite or other explosive substance, or any
matter or liquid deleterious to fish, shall be liable to a
penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds. -
These regulations shall come into force as from the first
day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
three.

Extending Parts X. and XI. of "The Municipal Corpora-
tions Act, 1876," to Borough of Port Chalmers.

WHEREAS by the three hundred and fifty-ninth section
of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is
enacted that the Governor may, on the petition of any of
the Councils of any of the Corporations mentioned in the
Third Schedule to the said Act, extend any part or parts of
the said Act to the Corporation the Council of which shall
petition, and thereupon the part or parts of the said Act is
extended shall have the force of law within such Corpora-
tion: And whereas the Council of the Corporation of Port
Chalmers (being a Corporation mentioned or referred to in
the third Schedule to the said Act) has petitioned His Excel-
lency the Governor to extend Parts X. and XI. of the said
Act to the said Corporation:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in exercise
and pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon
him by the said Act, doth hereby extend Parts X. and XI.
of the said Act to the said Corporation.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this seventeenth day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three.

Notification that Her Majesty has relinquished Negotiations
in respect of certain Native Lands in the North Island.

IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Government Native
Land Purchases Act, 1877," and "The Government
Native Land Purchases Act Amendment Act, 1878," it is
hereby notified that Her Majesty the Queen has relinquished
negotiations in respect of the blocks of Native land in the
North Island which are more particularly described and men-
tioned in the Schedule hereto, except where otherwise speci-
fied in the said Schedule.
SCHEDULE.
PUHIPUHI.
ALL that parcel of land in the Hukerenui and Russell Survey
Districts, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known by
the name of Puhipuhi, containing by admeasurement 25,000
acres, more or less. Bounded towards the North by the Moko-
tuna Stream and a line, 6880 links; towards the East by the
Taparahia and Kaimamaku Rivers; towards the South by
the Whakapara and Wairua Rivers; and towards the West
by the Waiotu River. Save and excepting the Puhipuhi Nos.
2 and 3 Blocks, containing together 5,000 acres, more or less,
and a portion of the Puhipuhi No. 1 Block, containing 14,290
acres, more or less, now held in freehold tenure by the Crown.
TE HUKUI.
All that parcel of land in the Taupo District, in the Pro-
vincial District of Auckland, known by the name of Te Hukui,
containing by admeasurement 2,358 acres, more or less.
Bounded towards the North by lines, 18664 links, commenc-
ing at or about its intersection with the telegraph line to
Taupo, and terminating at Mapouroa; towards the East and
South-east by lines 28642 links from Mapouroa aforesaid to
Torangakura; towards the South by lines 5200 links from
Torangakura to Te Matai; and towards the West by lines
22800 links from Te Matai to the point of commencment.
Save and excepting 2,000 acres, more or less, now held in free-
hold tenure by the Crown.
ROTOKAUTUKU.
All that parcel of land in the Poverty Bay District, in the
Provincial District of Auckland, known by the name of
Rotokautuku, containing by admeasurement 5,393 acres,
more or less. Bounded on the North by the Mangaporo
Stream and surveyed lines separating Native land; thence
on the East by the Mata River; thence on the South by the
Mata River; thence on the West by surveyed lines separating
Native land, to the starting point.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this seventeenth day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three.

in certain Native Lands in the North Island.

THE Native Land Court, under the powers conferred by
"The Native Land Act Amendment Act, 1877," having
ascertained and determined the interest which has been ac-
quired by or on behalf of Her Majesty in the several blocks of
Native land described in the Schedule hereto, it is hereby
notified that Her Majesty has ceased to have any interest in
the said blocks of Native land, except where otherwise
specified in the said Schedule.
