any Land Board, and may also from time to time alter,
amend, or revoke any such Proclamation:
And whereas the Land Board of Wellington did, on the
fourth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-three, pass a resolution recommending that the land
described in the Schedule hereto annexed should be set apart
for sale on deferred payments:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid
recommendation, and to set apart the said land accordingly:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on
deferred payments; and that Tuesday, the fourth day of
December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three,
shall be the day on which the said land shall be open for
application, at the Harbour Board Office, Wanganui, and at
the Land Office, Wellington, in allotments as surveyed and
marked on the selection map in the office of the Commissioner
of Crown Lands, Wellington:
In pursuance of section four of "The Land Act 1877
Amendment Act, 1879," I do hereby declare that subsection
four of the sixty-third section of "The Land Act, 1877," shall
not apply to any of the lands described in the Schedule
hereto:
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of "The
Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," I do hereby fix the
price at which the land so described shall be sold to be the
price set opposite each allotment in the Schedule hereto.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby make the regulations following with
respect to the sale of certain poisons, and doth declare that
such regulations shall come into force and take effect on and
after the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-three.
REGULATIONS.

"The Sale of Poisons Act, 1871," is hereinafter referred
to as "the said Act." -
It shall not be lawful for any person to sell or dispose of
strychnine or arsenic in any quantities unless such person
shall, previous to making the entry required by the provisions
of the twelfth section of the said Act, obtain from the in-
tending purchaser of such strychnine or arsenic a statutory
declaration setting forth the particulars hereinafter men-
tioned. Immediately upon completion of the purchase, the
seller of such poison shall forward such statutory declaration
to the Registrar of the district appointed under the said Act. -
Every such declaration shall state precisely (1) the
Christian name and surname of the intending purchaser at
full length, together with his or her occupation and address;
(2) the exact quantity and name of the poison required; and
(3) the express purpose or purposes for which such poison
is alone in intended to be used, and the places or localities
where the same is to be used or deposited respectively.

Fixing Sittings of the District Court of Westland.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in
this behalf enabling me, I, William Francis Drummond
Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of
Westland, for civil and criminal business, shall be held as
follows, from and after the first day of November proximo,
in lieu of those previously fixed and appointed :-
Westland.
In the Supreme Courthouse, Hokitika, on the 8th
November.
In the Courthouse, Greymouth, on the 12th November.
In the Courthouse, Westport, on the 19th November.
In the Courthouse, Reefton, on the 26th November.
Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid
shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for
that day shall be holden on the first day thereafter not being
a holiday.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this sixteenth day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-three.

Conditions for Trout-fishing in Southland.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him
by "The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867," His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand doth hereby
make the following regulations for the District of South-
land:-

Any holder of a license as hereinafter mentioned may
fish with rod and line for trout in the Orawia, Oreti, Maka-
rewa, Otamita, and Eyre Rivers and their tributaries, from
the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-three, to the thirty-first day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive. -
Licenses to fish with rod and line in the said rivers
and streams will be issued under the hand of the Secretary
of the Acclimatisation Society, at Invercargill, and for every
license a fee of twenty shillings will be charged. -
No license shall authorise any person other than the
person named therein to fish, and that only with rod and
line. -
Any person fishing without a license, or otherwise than
as above, or any person who shall, on demand of any person
holding and showing a license, or on the demand of any
ranger, police officer, or constable, fail to produce and show
to such person, ranger, police officer, or constable his license,
shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty pounds. -
All trout not exceeding seven inches in length taken by
any person fishing as aforesaid shall be immediately returned
alive to the river or stream, and any person convicted of in-
fringing this regulation shall be liable to a penalty not
exceeding twenty pounds sterling, and his license shall
thereupon become void.
