described in that Proclamation as Section No. 268.

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in the
Southland Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:

And whereas the Land Board of Southland did, on
the twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-two, pass a resolution recom-
mending that the land described in the Schedule
hereto annexed should be set apart for sale on de-
ferred payments:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation, and to set apart the said
land accordingly:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Jus-
tice of the Colony of New Zealand, and Administrator
of the Government thereof, in pursuance and exercise
of the power and authority vested in me by the above-
named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for
sale on deferred payments; and that Wednesday, the
fourth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-two, shall be the day on which the said land
shall be open for application, in allotments as surveyed
and marked on the selection map in the principal
land office of the district.

And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of
"The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," I do
hereby fix the price at which the land so described
shall be sold to be the price set opposite each allot-
ment in the Schedule hereto.

Dividing Pangatotara Highway District, County of
Waimea, into Two Districts.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation under the hand
of the Governor of New Zealand, dated the
twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-one, and published in the New Zea-
land Gazette of the thirtieth day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one, a certain district
described in the said Proclamation was constituted a
highway district, and called the Pangatotara High-
way District: And whereas it is expedient to revoke
the said Proclamation as far as it relates to the said
highway district, and to constitute two highway
districts in lieu of the said district:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Ad-
ministrator of the Government of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers vested in me by "The Nelson Highways
Act, 1872," "The Nelson Highways Act Amendment
Act, 1873," and "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," do hereby revoke the above-mentioned Pro-
clamation as far as it relates to the said Pangatotara
Highway District, and do hereby constitute the said
district into two highway districts, to be called
respectively the Pangatotara Highway District and
the Pokororo Highway District, and do declare that
the boundaries of the said highway districts re-
spectively shall be those described in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE.

POKORORO HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Nelson,
bounded towards the North-east by a right line from
Mount Snowden, bearing E. 22° 30′ S., to the summit
of the dividing range; towards the North-west by
the said summit to a point due west of the northern
corner of Section No. 62 of Square No. 9; towards the
