SIR,-With reference to my despatch (general) of the
13th October last, I have the honor to transmit
to you a copy of a further letter from the Foreign
Office, enclosing a copy of a letter from the United
States Minister at this Court, expressing the appre-
ciation of the American people of the sympathy
afforded to them by the Government of New Zealand
on the death of President Garfield.
