towards the South by a right line to Red Hill;
thence towards the West by the summit of the high
snowy range from said Red Hill, and also by the
black range to the head waters of the Waimakariri;
thence again towards the South by a right line due
west to the south-eastern boundary-line of the County
of Westland; and thence towards the North-west by
the said County of Westland to the saddle between
the Teremakau and the Hurunui Rivers, the place of
commencement.

Coleridge.β€”Bounded towards the North, North-
east, South-east, and again towards the North-east
by the Malvern Licensing District, hereinbefore more
particulary defined, from a point on the south-eastern
boundary-line of the County of Westland due west
from the head waters of the Waimakariri to the
southernmost corner of said Malvern Licensing Dis-
trict at the intersection of the Wakaepa Branch of
the Selwyn River, by the eastern boundary-line of
Run No. 41, Class 3, produced, to the centre of said
Wakaepa Branch; thence again towards the North-
east by the centre of the Wakaepa Branch aforesaid
and the centre of the River Selwyn to where the
latter is crossed by the Great Southern Railway;
thence towards the South-east by the said Great
Southern Railway to its junction with the Great
South Road; thence towards the South-west and
South by the Ashburton County to the said County
of Westland; and thence towards the North-west by
the County of Westland aforesaid to the place of
commencement.

tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,

Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Christ-
church, this twenty-ninth day of March,
in the year of our Lord, one thousand

Town District of Kaitangata, County of Bruce,
constituted.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Town Districts Act, 1881"
(hereinafter called "the said Act"), it is,
among other things, enacted that the inhabitants of
any locality not constituted a borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," wherein there
are not less than fifty householders, may apply by
petition to the Governor praying that such locality
may be constituted a town district under the said Act;
and that no such locality shall exceed two square
miles in area, and no one point in such area shall be
distant more than four miles from any other point
therein, except in the case of military townships;
and that in every such locality not less than two-
thirds of the number of the resident householders
shall concur in any such petition, and each signature
to such petition shall be verified by the attestation
of some respectable witness; and that such petition
shall set forth accurately the boundaries of the
locality to which such petition may refer; and also
that, on the receipt of any such petition, the Gover-
nor may, by Proclamation, declare that the provisions
of the said Act shall come into force within such

locality, and that the same shall be a town district
under the said Act; and, further, that such Procla-
mation shall accurately define the boundaries of the
district in accordance with the description contained
in the petition, and shall declare the name by which
such district shall thereafter be known:

And whereas a petition has been presented to the
Governor, by the inhabitants of the locality men-
tioned and described therein, praying that such
locality may be constituted a town district under the
said Act:

And whereas not less than two-thirds of the num-
ber of resident householders in the said locality have
concurred in the said petition, and it is expedient
that a Proclamation should be issued under the said
Act for the purposes hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the hereinbefore in part recited Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the provisions
of the said Act shall come into force within the
locality or district mentioned and described in the
Schedule hereto (the same being the locality men-
tioned and set forth in the said petition, so presented
as aforesaid), and that the same shall be a town dis-
trict under the said Act; and, in further pursuance
and exercise of the said power and authority, I do
hereby declare that the said district shall hereafter
be known by the name of "The Kaitangata Dis-
trict," and I do appoint that the Board of Commis-
sioners for the said district shall consist of seven in
number.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
bounded towards the North by a road-line between
Blocks IV. and VIII., North Molyneux Survey Dis-
trict, to and across the Kaitangata Creek; towards
the West by said creek and by Kaitangata Lake to
Block II., South Tuakitoto Survey District; again
towards the North by said Block II.; towards the
East by Blocks VIII. and IX., Kaitangata Survey
District, to south-east corner of Section 8 of Block
II., North Molyneux Survey District; towards the
South by Sections 7 and 6 of said block to the
Matau branch of the Clutha River; towards the
West and again towards the South by said branch
and by a road-line south of Section 6 of Block IV.,
North Molyneux Survey District; and again towards
the West by a road-line west of last-mentioned section
to the commencing point: as the same is delineated
on the plan deposited in the Survey Office, Dunedin.
