Regulations for the Kaikoura Suburban Cemetery,
County of Kaikoura.

THE following regulations for the management of
the Kaikoura Suburban Cemetery, having been
submitted to His Excellency the Governor in Council,
are published in accordance with "The Cemeteries
Management Act, 1877."

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR KAIKOURA SUBURBAN
PUBLIC CEMETERY, COUNTY OF KAIKOURA.

  1. The Kaikoura Suburban Public Cemetry, con-
    taining by admeasurement 12 acres, more or less,
    being Section No. 264 in the District of Kaikoura
    Suburban, and placed under the care and manage-
    ment of the Cemetery Board of Trustees by Proclama-
    tion of His Excellency the Governor, dated the 20th
    January, 1881, under the provisions of "The Ceme-
    teries Management Act, 1877," is laid off into blocks,
    which are reserved by the Board of Trustees for the
    use of the several denominations, subject to His Ex-
    cellency the Governor permanently setting the same
    aside for such purpose in the following order, viz. :
    Block Al for the use of the Episcopalians, and the
    conditional use of the Presbyterians; Block I., for
    exclusive use of the Episcopalians; Block II., for the
    exclusive use of the Catholics; Block III., for the
    exclusive use of the Wesleyans and Methodists;
    Block IV., for the exclusive use of the Presbyterians;
    Block V., for the use of any denomination or denomi-
    nations, sect or sects, not otherwise provided for; as
    shown by the plan of the divisions deposited in the
    Crown Lands Office at Blenheim. The several blocks
    will be subdivided into burial-plots 9 feet by 4 feet,
    and open for selection by any person requiring the
    same.

  2. That the exclusive right of burial in perpetuity
    in any plot or plots of ground (not exceeding six in
    contiguity) may be sold by the Trustees, to persons
    applying for the same, at Β£1 1s. per plot; and the
    Clerk of the cemetery for the time being shall give
    to the purchaser or purchasers a grant, in the form
    of Schedule A. attached to these regulations, on
    payment to him of a fee of 1s., together with the
    cost of all necessary stamps.

  3. Owner or owners of the exclusive right of
    burial in perpetuity in any plot or plots of ground
    may transfer his, her, or their interest therein to any
    other person or persons on payment to the Clerk of
    the cemetery for the time being of a fee of 5s. and
    the cost of the necessary stamps for such transfer,
    whether the same is to convey one or more plot or
    plots to any one and the same person. All transfers
    shall be in the form laid down in Schedule A annexed
    to these regulations.

  4. The Clerk of the cemetery for the time being
    shall keep a book, and shall from time to time enter
    therein the number of every burial-plot sold, together
    with the name or names of the purchaser or pur-
    chasers and the date of sale, particulars of all trans-
    fers, and shall record therein all burials in the
    cemetery; and such record-book shall be open to the
    inspection of the public at all reasonable times on
    payment of a fee of 1s. for every such inspection.

  5. No grave shall be less than 6 feet deep, and no
    coffin nearer the surface than 4 feet 6 inches.
    Owners of private burial-plots desiring a greater
    depth shall pay an extra charge of 2s. for every foot
    over and above 6 feet.

  6. In all cases of intended interment the person
    having control of the funeral shall apply to the Clerk
    of the cemetery for the time being for a warrant for
    such interment, and the Clerk is hereby authorized
    to grant a warrant, in the form of Schedule B an-
    nexed to these regulations, on payment to him of the
    following fees, viz. :β€”
