I, the undersigned, hereby make application to register the Merope Gold-Mining Company as a Limited Company under the provisions of “The Mining Companies Act, 1872.”
- The name of the Company is to be the Merope Gold-Mining Company (Limited).
- The place of operations is at Terawhiti, Hutt County, Wellington Provincial District.
- The registered office of the Company will be situated in Cuba Street, Wellington City.
- The nominal capital of the Company is fifteen thousand pounds, in fifteen thousand shares of one pound each.
- The number of shares subscribed for is fifteen thousand, being not less than two-thirds of the entire number of shares in the Company.
- The number of paid-up shares is nil.
- The amount already paid up is nil.
- The name of the Manager is Herbert Deveril.

I, COLIN MCKENZIE GORDON, Sheriff of the District of Otago, hereby give notice that, under a writ of fieri facias, duly issued out of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, Otago and Southland District, at Dunedin, in an action, No. 69, wherein HENRY WISE and JAMES CAFFIN, of Dunedin, Booksellers, trading together as “Wise, Caffin, and Co.” are Plaintiffs, and JOHN GRAHAM, of Dunedin aforesaid, late a Bookseller and Newsvendor, is Defendant, I have taken in execution, at the suit of the said Henry Wise and James Caffin, the Execution Creditors, the estate in fee-simple of the said John Graham in all that piece of land containing by admeasurement sixty-nine (69) acres three (3) roods and twenty-eight (28) perches, more or less, situated in the Maungatua District, in the Provincial District of Otago, being Sections numbered respectively thirty-one (31), forty-nine (49), fifty (50), fifty-one (51), fifty-two (52), fifty-three (53), fifty-four (54), and fifty-five (55), Block one (I.), on the record map of the said Maungatua District, and being the whole of the land referred to in a receipt of the Receiver of Land Revenue at Dunedin, number 6841, registered at Dunedin, in Provisional Register-book, Volume vi., folio 35, subject to a memorandum of lease thereof, number 719, from the said John Graham to Alexander Archibald Marques Graham, for the term of seven years and six months, from the 1st day of January, 1881, at the yearly rent of twenty pounds.
And subject also to two memoranda of mortgage from the said John Graham, numbered respectively 6476 and 6577, to Christina Whiteford and Robert Cramond respectively, to secure the repayment to the said Christina Whiteford and Robert Cramond respectively of the two sums of one hundred pounds each, with interest thereon, as in the said memoranda of mortgage is respectively expressed.
And I further give notice that I intend to cause the said estate in fee-simple of the said John Graham, subject to the said memorandum of lease and the said memoranda of mortgage, to be sold by public auction by Mr. Montagu Pym, at his rooms in High Street, Dunedin, on Monday, the 6th day of March, 1882, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, unless the debt, interest, and costs payable by virtue of the said judgment be sooner paid.
The Solicitors for the Execution Creditors are Messieurs George and J. A. Cook, of the Colonial Bank Buildings, Water Street, Dunedin.

I HEREBY notify for general information, in terms of section 17 of “The Life Assurance Companies Act, 1873,” that I have received the following notice from the Mutual Life Association of Australasia, to wit:—

SIR,—I have the honor to give you notice, in terms of section 17, clause 1, of “The Life Assurance Companies Act, 1873,” that this Association desires to withdraw its voluntary deposit of £1,300, on the ground that the deposit of £5,000 remaining in your hands is more than sufficient to cover “the amount of the moneys insured or contracted to be paid by the Association in or by the policies on the register,” as required by clause 2 of the same section of the Act.
